The latest back and forth escalation between Hezbollah and IDF this past week might signal that the IDF might not have much of a choice in the matter.. I don’t think war is coming this summer. It would be suicidal for Israel to fight two front wars at this time. It would collapse their economy. And with campaign season coming ahead in the summer for the US elections Biden is not going to sign on a regional war with massive economic ramifications. Many Israeli ex generals are saying it’s a bad idea to fight both Hamas and Hezbollah at the same time.
Burning of Kiryat Shmona, targeting the base there, and battery, the Israeli side might just have to bite the bullet and engage in some limited operation just to save face. It'll be disastrous and they'll risk getting dragged into something they can't contain, but its either that or a complete collapse of settler faith in the North - which is already in a very tense situation.
