Israel Used 28 F-15, F-16 Fighters, Fired 70 Missiles At Syria . . .
Israel has used 28 planes mostly F-15 and F-16 fighters and fired 70 air-launched and tactical missiles in the last night air raid on Iranian military installations in Syria. The Syrian defense forces have shot down more than half of these missiles, Russian defense ministry said in a statement.
"Participating in the air raid were 28 Israeli planes F-15 and F-16, which fired more than 60 air-to-surface missiles on different parts of Syria. Also Israel launched more than ten tactical surface-to-surface missiles," Russian defense ministry was quoted as saying by TASS Thursday.
"While repelling Israel’s attack, Syria’s air defense units downed more than half of the missiles," the Defense Ministry said, adding that reports on the damage caused to the Iranian armed units and Syria’s military and civil infrastructure are being verified.
"The attacks were against the deployment sites of Iranian armed groups and also Syrian air defenses in the area of Damascus and in southern Syria."
“The Iranian armed units’ deployment sites as well as the positions of the Syrian army’s air defense units near Damascus and in southern Syria came under attack," the Defense Ministry said.
The Israeli military accused the Revolutionary Guards' Al Quds force and its commander, Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, of launching the attack at the Israeli Golan Heights. This is the first time Israel has directly accused Iran of firing toward Israeli territory.
The IAF was attacked by Syrian aerial defense batteries, which carried out firing despite Israeli warning.
In response, the IDF has attacked several aerial intercept systems (SA-5, SA-2, SA-22, SA-17) belonging to the Syrian Army.
Israel stated that it had destroyed an Iranian military camp north of Damascus, The weapon storage sites of Quds Force at the Damascus International Airport, Systems of intelligence associated with the Quds Force, Observation, military positions and weapons in the area of the barrier. The Iranian launcher was also destroyed from which the missiles were launched into Israel last night.
