Israel has used 28 planes mostly F-15 and F-16 fighters and fired 70 air-launched and tactical missiles in the last night air raid on Iranian military installations in Syria. The Syrian defense forces have shot down more than half of these missiles, Russian defense ministry said in a statement.

"Participating in the air raid were 28 Israeli planes F-15 and F-16, which fired more than 60 air-to-surface missiles on different parts of Syria. Also Israel launched more than ten tactical surface-to-surface missiles," Russian defense ministry was quoted as saying by TASS Thursday.

"While repelling Israel’s attack, Syria’s air defense units downed more than half of the missiles," the Defense Ministry said, adding that reports on the damage caused to the Iranian armed units and Syria’s military and civil infrastructure are being verified.

"The attacks were against the deployment sites of Iranian armed groups and also Syrian air defenses in the area of Damascus and in southern Syria."

“The Iranian armed units’ deployment sites as well as the positions of the Syrian army’s air defense units near Damascus and in southern Syria came under attack," the Defense Ministry said.

The Israeli military accused the Revolutionary Guards' Al Quds force and its commander, Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, of launching the attack at the Israeli Golan Heights. This is the first time Israel has directly accused Iran of firing toward Israeli territory.

The IAF was attacked by Syrian aerial defense batteries, which carried out firing despite Israeli warning.

In response, the IDF has attacked several aerial intercept systems (SA-5, SA-2, SA-22, SA-17) belonging to the Syrian Army.

Israel stated that it had destroyed an Iranian military camp north of Damascus, The weapon storage sites of Quds Force at the Damascus International Airport, Systems of intelligence associated with the Quds Force, Observation, military positions and weapons in the area of the barrier. The Iranian launcher was also destroyed from which the missiles were launched into Israel last night.

Iraqi Forces Capture 5 Top ISIS Leaders in Cross-Border Raid...

Isis-viceo_2941899c_0.jpg

"The U.S.-led coalition says Iraqi forces in coordination with U.S.-backed Syrian forces have captured five senior ISIS group leaders.

In a statement Thursday coalition spokesman Army Col. Ryan Dillon called the arrest a “significant blow to Daesh,” using the Arabic acronym for the extremist group.

Ismail al-Eithawi, who also uses the alias Abu Zaid al-Iraqi, was captured in February in Turkey by Turkish authorities and handed over to Iraqi agents, Iraqi security advisor Hisham al-Hashimi told Reuters on Thursday.

Hashimi described Eithawi as a direct aide to Islamic State leader Baghdadi, responsible for funds transfers to the group's bank accounts in different countries.

Iraqi agents used the Telegram messaging app on Eithawi's mobile phone to lure other Islamic State commanders to cross the border from Syria into Iraq, where they were captured, Hashimi said. Those held include Saddam Jamal, a Syrian who served as the group's governor of Syria's eastern Euphrates region.

Hashimi described Eithawi and Jamal as the two most senior Islamic State figures ever to be captured alive. The capture of all five was announced on Iraqi state TV on Wednesday.

Hashimi said the operation was carried out in cooperation with U.S. forces, part of an American-led coalition fighting against Islamic State on both sides of the Iraqi-Syrian border."
