... and now I read in several sources ISIL had taken over the junction in the middle of the protrusion (marked in the black ellipse in yesterday's map now):

so ...

as for so called T4 Airbase
(
) sources now vary if it has, or hasn't, been encircled ... EDIT this depends pretty much on ISIL and what its objectives in this campaign are, which I'll wait to see

it would seem ISIL will assault T4 this weekend ... but who knows ... anyway interesting picture from inside of the base:

I looked more closely at the area:

presumably important point (a village?) "Sharifa" is marked;
in middle-bottom, there's the junction from Tuesday at 9:21 PM
and while ISILs didn't get it that far from Palmyra, they have a close view of the T4 base according to the pictures, video in the related blog by "Cassad":

EDIT
my point also is the importance of Air Force(s) in the current conflict, where a battalion (?) of determined fighters is able to expel a regiment (?) from the base, and keep said regiment (which had run away) inside yet another base for five days now, while Air Force(s) are probably working on supposedly cool videos of precision strikes ... OK for now I'll skip a rant about 5Gen aircraft

yesterday Government sent reinforcements to counter-attack: probably is at the southern junction (towards

), but didn't repel ISIL from the outer perimeter of the T4 (by the way I've it's the biggest airbase in Syria), while ISIL was unable to break in;
ISIL is in "Sharifah";
T4 is not encircled;

Buses finally enter besieged towns of Kafraya, Al-Fou’aa

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:35 P.M.) - Minutes ago, a source in the besieged towns of Al-Fou'aa and Kafraya informed Al-Masdar News that a large convoy of buses arrived to transport the wounded and sick.

The buses and ambulances finally entered these two besieged towns in the Idlib Governorate after a long blockade by the jihadist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest).

Despite the entry of these buses on Sunday afternoon, there has been no confirmation from local sources that the jihadist rebels will allow them to depart from the towns of Al-Fou'aa and Kafraya.

Syrian Hezbollah fighters from Al-Zahra'a and Nubl, two predominately Shi'i towns in northern Aleppo, issued a warning to the jihadist rebels in Idlib that if they do not allow the buses to leave, they will prevent the east Aleppo convoy from reaching its intended destination.

Aleppo battle: Rebels burn Syria evacuation buses
  • 21 minutes ago
Several buses en route to evacuate the sick and injured from two government-held villages in Syria's Idlib province have been burned by rebels.

The convoy was travelling to Foah and Kefraya, besieged by rebel fighters.

Pro-government forces are demanding people be allowed to leave the mainly Shia villages in order for the evacuation of east Aleppo to restart.

Despite the apparent setback, state media reported the departure of buses carrying people from Aleppo.

This has not been confirmed by other sources.

The initial plan to evacuate the last rebel-held enclaves in eastern Aleppo collapsed on Friday, leaving civilians stranded at various points along the route out without access to food or shelter.

The UN Security Council is due to vote on Sunday on French proposals for UN officials to monitor the evacuations of besieged neighbourhoods in the city.

Despite delays over the new operation, buses were preparing to evacuate people from both eastern Aleppo and the government-held villages in Idlib province on Sunday.

A number of buses have now succeeded in entering Foah and Kefraya, according to the UK-based monitoring group the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). It earlier reported that Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, formerly al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, had been holding them up.

However, six buses were attacked and torched on the way, the SOHR said.

Syrian state media said "armed terrorists" attacked five buses, burned and destroyed them.

Several reports from opposition sources said Jabhat Fatah al-Sham was responsible. But Hezbollah's al-Manar TV and Beirut-based pro-Syrian government al-Mayadin TV said clashes between different jihadist groups had resulted in the blaze.

Rebel groups have not yet commented on the attack.
Bloody terrorists.

Another batch of buses heading towards Shiite towns attacked by jihadists in Idlib

- 18/12/2016
BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:55 P.M.) - Not long after the first transportation convoy reached Al-Fou'aa and Kafraya, a group of jihadist rebels opened fire on the second batch of buses attempting to reach these besieged Shi'i towns in the Idlib Governorate.

According to activists in besieged Al-Fou'aa and Kafraya, the second batch of buses was targeted by jihadist rebels as they were driving down the road to the towns - the fate of the bus drivers is still unknown.

As a result of this attack by jihadist rebels, the buses in Al-Fou'aa and Kafraya were told to remain in the towns until further notice due to security concerns posed by the militant groups in the Idlib Governorate.

The random attack by jihadists in the Idlib Governorate today will likely delay the transport of civilians and militants in the eastern pocket of Aleppo.

More details to come....
