wow

All Foreign Assault Rifle under trial failed under Indian conditions.

The Indian Army began the final round of confirmatory trials in support of its requirement for 44,618 close quarter battle (CQB) 5.56 mm carbines and 33.6 million rounds of ammunition on 9 June, defence industry officials told IHS Jane's .

The Beretta ARX-160, Colt M4, and Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Galil Ace carbines will undergo a series of tests at army establishments and weapon-testing facilities until the end of July. These include weapon sights, furniture, and ammunition trials.

The competing guns will also undergo a "mud test" to gauge their ability to operate in poor conditions, an evaluation all three failed during trials in 2012 in the Rajasthan desert and high-altitude regions.

That won't work. MoD can't push its responsibility onto somebody else. Anyway, the Rafale negotiation committee is part of MoD. He is waiting for them to finish their work and expecting their report in the next few weeks is all he says.

But, yes, there's still some crucial work remaining. That's why I detailed the amount of work still left with respect to the CCS and Finance Ministry.

With such large sums of money and political implications, final decision would have to be made by whole Cabinet and especially by PM Modi . Final responsibility would fall on his shoulders, therefore Defence Minister doesn't want to make premature statements . As I said, we would have to wait and see .

Govt approves construction of 7 stealth frigates, 6 nuclear-powered submarines

Great! Seven improved Shivaliks will be critical for the Indian Navy...and the Shivalik is a good design.

As to the SSNs...this just reinforces my opinion that the Indian Navy needs to get that second Akula SSN ASAP. A dedication to building six indigenous Indian SSNs is great...but it is going to take a long time and in the mean time, a second carrier is going to be coming out and the Indian Navy needs another good SSN to protect her.

now,now what does it mean????

Aksha...please stop posting what amounts to "tweets," and then discussing them as if though they were an article.

Post your own thoughts in some detail, or post links to actual articles, including a part of the article for discussion.

This posting of scores of tweets on SD needs to stop, it is cluttering up the threads.

All deals go through the Cabinet Committee on Security. The responsibility of the negotiations and the deal, however, belongs to the MoD. The CCS consists of the PM, Defence, Finance, Home affairs and External Affairs.

Basically, the minister cannot transfer the responsibility to anybody else. It is impossible.

Nobody makes premature statements when a contract is being negotiated. So even the MoD cannot say anything until the CNC finishes their report, the final report.
