IDRW is a garbage source, although Indian officials are known for their outrageous boasting, this website is particularly garbage

BTW that IDRW website is so delusional-apparently india has the ONLY viable/potent airdefense .\ airforce as US,Russia,Israel has somehow failed and after Sindoor, india stands alone at the top.and NO ONE has a 6th gen aircraft yet and india will leapfrog all nations to be the first.Like you -I have no words.

IDRW.org is reportedly one of the most popular defense websites in India, and one of the 1,000 most visited websites in the entire country:

TBF, most people aren't very interested in defense, so it's a bit of a niche vertical.

However, within the niche of Indian defense reporting, IDRW.org is effectively mainstream, and that says a lot about just how deluded the Indian defense community is as a collective.

Considering the high number of incidents they should be busy for years to fill their own IAF numbers.

"full self-reliance in manufacturing fighter jets"

Nothing beats "full self-reliance" more than having to wait (read: beg) for F404 engine deliveries for their "full self-reliance" Tejas Mk1A - And turn that into a national headline news.

Only 12 engines this year ? Its ridiculous they waited so long to just receive the first two. Their fighters fleet crashes at higher rate than they receiving engines and deliveries of new airframes.

The key word is ridiculous. But my hats off to them for going with a very low bar and deciding to design and build the "lightest" of the lightweight class.

Imagine if they had been ambitious and designed a two medium-engine plane. They would wait a month to get 1st engine, do half the plane and then wait another month to get the 2nd engine to finish up!

Actually they did imagine this as a naval fighter. As usual after a lot of talk, it never go off the ground:

Honestly, it shouldn't be posted here... even for humor. I mean it's not even good enough for Indian reddit? No one should take it seriously here, not even a tiny bit.

'Not very long...': LCA Tejas architect says India will stop importing fighter jets and start exporting

I can't even believe they would make such a statement. Especially in light of the "big news" of getting a measly 2nd engine and lofty projections of building 12 jets a year.

They would probably force Armenia to take delivery of one and celebrate the great export success of the Tejas. The Indian government can force Ambani to pay the least popular Kardashian sister to attend the ceremony. A HAL official will be quoted as saying "One Tejas is the equal to at least ten of the Azeri JF-17s". By the end of 2045, All 10 Tejas will have completed export delivery to Armenia and will be able to take on the JF-17 threat.

Technically TEDBF is still in development. As is AMCA, as is Tejas Mk1A, Tejas Mk2, etc. etc.
