Kaveri approved to perform in flight testing. Will use Russia to assist the program.

The engine is now ready for real-world performance evaluations aboard a specialized flying test bed (FTB). In this phase of testing, the dry-Kaveri engine will be mounted on an FTB to evaluate its response to various flight conditions

It seems they are going back to Gromov again.

Strange of them to talk breathlessly about going back to flight testing that was cited as "successful" a decade and half ago.

Decades of development in the Kaveri but still no domestic inflight testing :

It seems this is dry Kaveri they are trying to test. So it's just to try and power the drone they are trying to build in future, its not for a fighter jet engine per se.

Okay. That article makes it seem like a major advancement. Going from a fighter engine to a dry drone one is a pretty big drop in expectation. Especially for a program that's been going on for decades.

Yeah, I think this article didn't specify that properly compared to the others i red which had more specifics.

Yeah its a downgrade, but its better to at least get something from the program(which they spent billions of dollars) than to abandon it without any gain whatsoever. The engine didn't meet the required thrust desired to power their light fighter jet so that program was terminated. Drone won't require as much thrust hence they are trying to modify it for their drone program to at least get something from the Kaveri engine project which is better than getting nothing at all.
For fighter jet engine, India is relying on the US/France to kickstart a license production/joint production of their engines in India with Technology transfer from this western powers. Remains to be seen though if the US/France will really transfer enough tech for them to be able to manufacture or acquire the knowledge to build a reliable jet engine independently. I'm not as optimistic that they will transfer the key knowledge needed just peripheral ones like the Russians did with their license production of engines in India which didn't help the country much in gaining enough key knowledge to do it independently . So remains to be seen if the same story will repeat itself with this new program.

Lol they are so lucky that China actually has no interest to "come at them". What absolute morons these hindu nationalists are.

If a border skirmish somehow gets set off again and escalates to all out war (which has less likelihood than Russia, USA and China all headed into direct kinetic war) rest assured that you can bet all your chips China will decapitate India's ability to fight any meaningful, organised war with China within a week of opening shots. India is hardly worthy of MRBMs and CMs. Not only airfields have to be targeted but all means of military production will be hit. They will not need to be "kept out of the fight" as these Indians propose. India will take months to rebuild and repair those facilities. They think themselves Chinese or American.

China however should know that India will try to take advantage of any situation just like in early 2020 when India was convinced China will be too bogged down with the pandemic to do anything about India's attempt to expand their patrol points in disputed regions of Ladakh.

If China is ever caught in a future war, it needs to count on India making moves in disputed regions again. China has no first use policy so nukes are out of the question unlike Russia's position on China ever taking Siberia by force. So China would need to seriously get three generations ahead of India to cut these morons down quickly when they do make moves. They will never believe just how ahead China is and will always fuck around. China just needs to make sure they find out as quickly and violently as possible so their propaganda machines and troll farms will not be able to spin it as some victory again. Show photos and videos just like last time there was a scuffle. If war breaks out, hit them hard and fast so resources and efforts can be focused on the eastern front.

Papers signed with India are pretty meaningless if their high school level leadership class figure they can seize opportunities if China becomes distracted.

Tbf China can't really get involved into a high-intensity conflict with India or any other country (assuming they aren't defending Taiwan like the US) until the Taiwan issue is resolved. Taiwan is far too important. Any major conflict may embolden Taiwan to end the status quo.
