What looks like bok choy?
Swiss chard..... aka 莙薘菜 or street name 豬乸菜. You rarely see people use it though, since it's more expensive than the regular sort of greens. (Southerners only use white because it's the only one we really know.)
---
Especially in America with its grain fed beef.... (clean American beef is a bit of a myth.) If anything I trust Japanese, Chilean and Aussie cattle raw, all else no. And never raw pork.....

Anyone hear about the myth that a salmon becomes poisonous when spawning? Anyone confirm?

---
tree lichen? What? You mean the wood ear fungus and cloud ear fungus? Actually, these are really good, good crunch and a very good blood(wood ear) and lung(cloud ear) cleaner.

There a Chinese recipe for ox tails? I can't imagine putting it in a traditional Chinese beef brisket stew. (Not sure if it's the brisket. It's literally called cow belly, lots of connective tissue.) Tendon goes well too. (You guys eat tendon?) The tongue is lovely also.

Well, they have a menu, haven't you catch what they're ordering by now?:D
Any opinions on chicken feet? (nails clipped and the layer that actually touches the ground removed.)

Any sort of dumpling suggestions?
---
And come to think of it, since most of us here aren't from Mexico, anyone in the dark about avocados? We should export them to China. They are sure to be a hit there! (The plant is semi-tropical.)
---
Well, Zaky started this thread, so you should ask him first, although the other thread is kinda on the dead end anyway.... but I don't see a problem in merging.

And does anyone has any recipes of sorts? I know we are men, but come on, not even nasi goring or barbeque?

Still, never heard of it.

Well, after several initial attempts to order stuff went bad since I had no idea what I was ordering, I have been banned from ordering. I just sit there and eat whatever they got me. This is convenient espeically the Chinese style of eating is "communal eating". We don't get our onw dish. All dishes are put in the middle of the table and we scoop from the dish into our own plates. So they simply order enough dishes for however many people at the table.

And I LOVE chicken feet!! LOVE them! Whenever we go Dim Sum, I would get 5-6 plates of them and would not allow anyone to touch it, ALL MINE!! Not so much for duck feet though. They look freaky...

I've had those! Actually I cook them myself at home. I put them in soups.

I eat tentons AND tongues. Actually we used to eat pig tongues a lot when we were still living in China. Tentons have to be cooked thoroughly, or they are so tough. I tried it a couple times at home (cooking them all day in a slow cooker, but can never get the kind of tenderness we get at restaurants. They probably use pressure cooker though.

You wouldn't want to eat Aussie beef....not with the drought in Australia. NZ beef is great though, nice texture.

Japanese cows....you guys heard of the luxury beef? where the cows undergo music treatment, massage etc. end result = very expensive beef.
That depends, Dairy cows are used for beef as well, and sometmes its not as nice, due to age maybe.

Have you actually tried that Japanese beef?

OMG Look at where the feet have been, you are nearly as bad as my friend he's into fish eyes. No one is allowed those eyes but him.

Tongues not bad don't know about the rest though

Steamboat
Theres this vessel where you heat water or what ever in it through charcoal and you just dunk a variety of prepared meats etc into to cook it the way you want. ( Or is it just a gimmick) Ive seen films where Mongols have a similar type of cooking vessel.

Have you ever tried what they call turnip cake I don't like it I prefer it made from potatoes, its nice a couple of days old with dice up bacon or ham in it with a beaten fried and shredded egg.
I have'nt got the exact recipe does anyone have it?

Same with Pork Buns whose got the recipe to get that white fluffy dough mixture> I just make it from a standard white bread recipe and steam it, its not quite the same though.

One thing I dont like is that Buddhist food Well I had it at a Temple in Hawaiii when they were celebrating something. Nearly made me chuck up)
That funny tasting sticky rice wrapped up in leaves.
Maybe they were celebrating the fact they don' have to eat the stuff 7 days a week and Fridays was McDonalds Day:D

Salmon is good I could eat a whole one by myself.

Meanwhile Im gonna have wild duck tonight Shot them in the Weekend, Ive got my own lake/duckpond on my property and some ducks land on it to escape the public lakes and escape the other hunters. Have you guys ever gone hunting I go pig hunting with my mate but I lost a couple of my best dogs got killed by one last season so Ill have to do something about replacing them. Wild pig is really tasty, same as deer, much better than farmed ones.

Yes, we call it hot pot here. It is one of my favorite, especially Sichuan style. The soup used to cook meat is filled with hot peppers. You definitely want to eat that in the winter since no amount of AC can stop you from sweating like pig. :p
