Wouldn't the pancakes be the white ones?

well 味味一品, I just found out, is a brand of 味丹. Chef Kong 康師傅? if so, they're new stir fried instant noodles are very good. How about the taiwanese uni-president 統一? It should be famous, it has an extensive market in China.

Thin pancakes? wouldn't that taste funny?

As sumdud says, they don't have any taste - they're there to hold the duck. They use that even in Beijing.

sumdud, I think leeks have a different taste. Can't remember about the cucumber - I don't use that much myself.

Re: Whats your Favourite Asian Food?

Are the pancakes like the stuff you use for Mushu?

Theres two styles, theres the white soft kind like Mantou and a thin, crispy Bin. The Mantou kind has a tiny bit of sweetness to it. I've never had cucumbers on it before, but green onions are a must. With sauce, hoisin is a popular substitution in the West, but Tian Mien Jiang, which is a local specialty, is the way to go.

Different stuff, Otherwise I am sure T wouldn't have mention the stuff. The white buns are more or less mantou w/ a cut.

Don't know, but I never pay attention to Ramen when I am in China. (If I was, China would be REALLY sad!!! :D )

Yea, 康師傅....don't dare to test my pinyin/juyin. Shouldn't 統一 be "Unified"? :D
I've definitely seen both in the major Asian markets. As for China, 康師傅 is always on the TV. Guess I should try the TW next time. They are cheaper anyway.

Cucumber isn't part of the traditional stuff you'd see with PK duck in BJ though.

As for the sauce, I beg to ask, why the sub? You can get tian mien jiang readily in stores now.

Breakfast item....Nothing on me, anything in the fridge and I use to think this way: you are not suppose to eat rice for breakfast.

Re: Whats your Favourite Asian Food?

One of my favorite breakfast foods back when I was in China was cold mantou dipped in tien mien jiang or the sauce for zha jiang mien noodles.

You tiao is also very tasty, and very popular too.

You Tiao/Za Mein/You Za Gui.....why do people ruin them with porridge? I don't see why people would put them in porridge......

A tradition that I will never understand. Is there porridge outside Guangdong? I know there's the "eight treasure" over in Hokkien.... but that's all I know.
