28nm and 22nm? Are you sure you are comparing the right specs between systems? There is a hard limit at about 40nm in resolution for DUV with ArF Immersion. You really need EUV to go below that. Can you share a spec sheet of those systems or are they just vapor ware at the moment?

With multipatterning technique you can get below 10nm with same equipment.

@adiru. I actually gone way back maybe like few years ago wrote letter to Huawei that they should go into semiconductor manufacturing, cant rely on TSMC due to geopolitical issues, they ignored that.
I guess an unknown guy from internet, they dont have that kind of vision (technology knowhow+geopolitical awareness) dont see what i see...
Only last year when possible US move on TSMC like recent did Huawei started to seriously switch and hedging to SMIC.

Only when US announced the move against Huawei this week did the govenment injecting the fund to SMIC.

So how things work for them. Either something gonna imminently happen to them or somethings already happened.

Yes. That's why I pointed out that he was not making an apples to apples comparison.

It's near impossible that ASML or Nikon ArF immersion systems would be eclipsed end of this year. Even just matching them for resolution is but a small part of the performance equation.

You flatter yourself. Everybody sees what you see as long as they are in the field. Everybody knows that every Chinese company or entity that uses American tech should get off of it. Every one, not just the things you're concerned about. In the genetics field, I can write several letters about which technologies need to be diversified away from the US so that a ban cannot harm China but these letters are useless unless they come with the actual technology to replace them with. If you wrote to them what you wrote to us, which is a simple outline of which institutes should be put together on a project, then it was obviously nothing of real value to them. You have no idea how many people in your field have written these letters but they're not helpful. It's like telling a weightlifter he needs to be stronger or a singer that he needs higher notes; it's useless advice unless you bring the substance with which to achieve that goal.

You're over here offering your fun advice for the members of this forum and that's fine; it's a non-professional discussion. But if your letters and your offers to professional entities carried substance, they would have been heeded because you would have been doing so from a platform of power that makes your words resonate due to your own achievements (CEO of lithography/semiconductor company, multiple patent holder, etc...). China is very accepting, even inviting, to talents from abroad who can bring technology to China, but if you don't have an impressive resume and sent them a broad letter that they need to get their institutes together and invent something which they likely already know but are trying to mesh out the specifics on, then your email went to the spam folder. If you don't have a patent, don't have a blueprint, don't even have a resume that makes people thing you can contribute to their research, then you don't have a voice. Too many guys with these ideas but no real technology to offer.

Before, Ren said Huawei will fight for its survival. Now, it's saying the same thing. Other than that, he's busy inventing things. Not everyone has the time to offer unwarranted free advice on casual forums. His thoughts are actually worth time and money, you know!

He's right, though. The last 20 or so pages are nothing but panic posting how America is going to demolish China, why didn't the government do anything, blah blah blah. There's been very little worthwhile discussion. Shouting that someone is doing it wrong is easy, actually demonstrating what the correct path is is much harder.

You were supposedly off consulting with some company in this space a while ago. What happened with that?
