its not uncommon for a big family to play both sides, as a sort of hedge. look at the conways, they win no matter who is in the whitehouse. i would not rule out that they do this by design, and not personal beliefs.

or simply have different political viewpoint. Our family isn’t big but even we have differences. Me and my dad staunchly pro PRC, my sis neutral , and my brother is usually quite anti PRC

Besides working as your regular early warning radar it was built with the intention of blinding the PAVE PAWS and when called for you flip a switch and the array will go into suppression mode and it would beam all of its energy directly at PAVE PAWS to completely white out their screen.

Not sure if it's urban legend or if anyone else heard solid anything about it. You see this get mentioned in passing in a lot of places in Chinese news about the PAVE PAWS, eg:
