My god they're still discussing about the possibility of ABM defense against DF missiles over there in ROC.

You might have heard that recent days a regular TV talking heard called Yu Beichen is being ridiculed by everyone on both side of the strait for saying on air "one of our interceptor have 70% chance of intercepting a ballistic missile, therefore three interceptor will have 210% change of successful interception". Well today he came out and said you guys don't understand, I said those things as cognitive warfare against the PRC. Or if we put it in internet terms "joke's on your I was only pretending to be retarded".

I should remind everyone that Yu Beichen is retired ROCA major general.
Rebel general strategies be like:

"Probability of a mirage 2000 to shoot down a J10 is 10%, if we send 10 mirage 2000, we have a 100% chance of winning"

Any chances the J-16Ds could be blinded as they tried to get closer to Pelosi's aircraft? It is one thing to view the transponder on the open Internet. It is another thing to relay the timely information on the open web to PLA forces operating on the frontline, which are likely only connected to the PLA's internal networks to minimize hacking by adversaries on the open net. Or...if the 055s and J-16D have separate onboard PCs that are connected to the open web to track Pelosi's plane?

Why would they send a EW bird as reconnaissance?

WTH?? So the dude came up with that hillarious calculation by essentially adding/multiplying 70×3/70+70+70 = 210 while the arithmetic us correct, I do not think this is how any defense expert a missile interceptor capability..What the f has this dude been smoking? I thought Chinese in general are good in math, what happened to that Chinese dude in Taiwan? Has he been inhaling too much freedom?
Taiwan island has embraced Vedic mathematics

  • PLA eyes in the sky and at sea sought to track the aircraft carrying the US House speaker
  • US reconnaissance aircraft detected over waters near Taiwan during PLA war games after trip, Beijing think tank says

As much as we don't really trust articles written by Minnie Chen, I still have a few questions about this article.

1. Who is this "Hu Yuan Ming" dude saying that 055's radar ranges are far shorter than 500km? Any credible journals or essay (ideally peer-reviewed) written by him that you guys came across?

2. On the night when Pelosi's aircraft circled around the South China Sea and approached Taiwan from the Philippine Sea, did the 055 (Yan'an 106, I think) cross the Bashi Strait and already positioned itself East of Taitung (or in position to track Pelosi's plane)?

3. "A source" to Minnie Chan saying that the electronics on J-16Ds and 055s were jammed by the US Navy. I remember reading Minnie's previous articles citing unnamed sources from the MOD. Wonder what her background is (her last name sounds like a typical HKer as opposed to well-connected folks from Mainland, but I could be wrong).

4. This is not the first RFI Chinese language version reported on undisclosed crises. Back in 2021, it was RFI that reported Beijing threatening to fly fighter planes into Taiwan's airspace should Kelly Craft land in Taiwan during the last days of the Trump Administration. But this article claimed to cite Apple Daily. Now RFI cites Minnie's article. So...hmmm...

I am not surprised if RFI or Apple Daily posts article deliberately aiming to downplay PLA's capabilities in instill lack of confidence in China. However, SCMP is generally neutral and less politically charged. Again, we should be skeptical of Minnie's "sources" from the PRC MOD. Yet, if we do not see major production of the J-16Ds (or start seeing major renovations/reconstructions of the 346 radars on 055s and 052Ds), then the issues described in this article could be true. And that would be concerning as it could embolden Washington to permanently keep Taiwan separate (as analysts in Pentagon would perceive PLA's electronic warfare as rudimentary).
If this were true then why does her flight path look like this?

Luzon, the top island, is 220 km across. it looks like Pelosi was traveling right outside the EEZ at another 200 km.

How many 055s were on a Filipino beach?

How many J-16Ds were flying over the Philippines?

Not Filipino EEZ or ADIZ but like, Manila airport?

US must ‘challenge’ Chinese missile launch – admiral

The United States must “contest” the launch of missiles over Taiwan by China, a top US military officer said on Tuesday. Seventh Fleet commander Vice Admiral Karl Thomas warned that such acts by Beijing could become the norm if allowed to go unchallenged.

“It’s very important that we contest this type of thing. I know that the gorilla in the room is launching missiles over Taiwan,” Vice Admiral Thomas told reporters in Singapore. “It’s irresponsible to launch missiles over Taiwan into international waters.”

Thomas warned that, “if you don’t challenge it,” these actions could lead to the Taiwan Strait being militarized in a similar way as the South China Sea.

The Seventh Fleet is based in Yokosuka, Japan and is the largest forward-deployed fleet in the US Navy. It is a key part of the US military’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region, making the admiral’s words all the more significant.

You should drink some salt water Admiral. Salami Slicing can be done by China as well. They are scared that the status quo will be changed. Shouldn’t have kept salami slicing then idiots.

If someone slap you on the face, and instead of hitting back, you say 'We must challenge this provocation', what does that sound and look like? That this coming from the country with the strongest military is sad.
