There were some unhinged Taiwanese nationalists who kept saying that despite well known laws of physics, SRBMs cannot overfly mountains and that the eastern side of Taiwan is a fortress.

Taiwan cannot become embargo proof, they have zero natural resources. Oh, well, they can revert to Middle Age agrarian society with 100x smaller population, then they maybe can sustain themselves using only resources found on the island.

Flights of J-20, Su-30MKK, J-16 fighter jets and a PLA Air Force Xian Y-20 tanker aircraft over Zhejiang and Fujian provinces adjacent to the Taiwan Strait during a sudden exercise by the People's Liberation Army of China. August 3, 2022.
On August 3, the PLA Eastern Command continued the exercise in the direction of Taiwan. In the morning, the PLA Air Force sent an AWACS aircraft, Jian-11 and Jian-20 fighter jets, bombers and other aircraft from various airfields to the Taiwan area to carry out air defense tasks, organize early warning and tactical aircraft guidance, gain air superiority, suppress enemy communications channels, and increase pressure.
