F-35 Joint Strike Fighter News, Videos and pics Thread

I'd say the F-35 will be very capable of taking out bad guys, the F-22 system is much older, yet against the F-22 everybody looses??? so older does not mean less capable, it means different, without all the latest bells and whistles??? so what, I mean really, the F-35 is being brought up to speed and will be a winner, we have an obligation to our partners that we will do our very best to fulfill, don't doubt me on that???

yeah but that article talks about CAS, says there'll be no IR pointer, no video feed available in EOTS ... yet

His logic is all wet, he sets the F-35 up as the strawman and Raphael as wonderboy??, he deserves to be stuck with the Raphael, Raphael is indeed a very nice fourth gen fighter aircraft, twin engine a plus no doubt, to discount stealth, and HMS system is just dumb, and his commenters are from the same tribe as well,,,, so what????
The F-35 will go IOC with the Marines this year, and with the USAF next year, the many new partners are looking at "who" they will be going up against and saying yes to the F-35, as the F-35 has the greatest chance of success against serious opponents. Canada knows the US is just to the South, and yes we would take care of them, just who we are?

don't worry, he let F-35 win against the Super Hornet :)

unfair to an aircraft from 1970s you mean? now I spent several minutes on that webpage (I found it like half of an hour ago) and it seems he contemplates what new fighter Canada should purchase, that's why he compares what's available on the market (and in theory, like Russian and Chinese models)

Water under the bridge now, but Canada and the US both would have been better served by a RCAF equipped with F-22's.

Canada has always needed and will always need a long leg Air Dominance fighter. The F-22's would have allowed it to provide a much stronger contribution to NORAD and as an added benefit, brought line costs down a bit and kept production running a little longer. More money to support block upgrades as well.

Considering the security relationship and unique working agreements between the US & Canada I never understood why it was not the one other country to see F-22 in service. But I have no doubt F-35 will be the alternative in the end. At this point I believe we are simply watching a deferral process until unit costs have come down some more and added funds have been budgeted.

The F-35 is going to have at last 700 foreign sales outside the US...and that's as it stands right now.

I will predict here and now that that number, in the next 10-15 years, will ultimately climb north of 1,000.

I will be surprised if ultimately, over the next two decades, if the US number does not approach 3,000...but time will tell.

Exactly, a democrat congressman passed an export ban on the F-22 in order to guarantee production of the F-35, the F-22 costs were coming down and it was very lean, the F-35 costs were going up at that time and it was indeed and still is "porky", so they managed to kill production of the F-22, in order to guarantee production of the F-35. The supposed reason was sensitivity about F-22 tech getting out, but as many have pointed out the F-35 is the truly techie bird, a very fine airplane, and easily adapted to the Air to Air role, but still not the F-22??? Shame, Shame, just dumb, but kinda the way some things go??? Lots of criticism by people who would be unable to tell their mane drain from a hole in the ground, but they succeeded in kill production of the one true fifth gen on the planet, hope their happy?

F-35 really doesn't have any competition in many of the countries if they are looking for a true 5th generation aircraft rather than one of the upgraded versions of eurocanards. So, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes over 1000 either. And over time, I think a lot of cost concerns should come down.
