Can someone please answer this...this bloke (used to work for Dassault) has been constantly saying that F-35 is not 5th generation aircraft and Rafale is more advanced and its also stealth jet etc. As i am not an military expert, i can't answer it thoroughly and in details.
Well, number one he is a past Dassault employee, so he might have???? some bias???? So in fact I do agree that the F-35 is Not the F-22,,,, it will NOT supercruise, it is NOT supermaneuverable, and it will NOT fly at the extreme altitude of the F-22, so I would agree that given those parameters that initially defined fifth gen, it is a light weight,,,, It is very stealthy compared to its near peers, it will have superior situational awareness and sensor fusion, particularly with other F-35s operating in concert with it, the Helmet is an amazing tool that makes you as close to one with your aircraft as you are likely to achieve..
It is a very powerful aircraft, but is also heavy, like the F-22 it is very aerodynamically active, it has been flown to 73 degrees AOA, although it is limited to 50 degrees in normal operations, twice that of most fourth gens, the A model, the A2A bird of the three, has been flown to 9.9Gs positive, so it is very strong as well. Flown WVR the Raphael may well have an element of parity, and possibly even a few advantages, but the Raphael is not a stealthy fifth gen, and "active cancellation is a "claim", with very little to substantiate that claim, and certainly no hard data??????
BVR the F-35 is very superior to anyones fourth or four point five gen aircraft, General Hostage has proclaimed it stealthier than the F-22, surprising, but this aircrafts capabilities will continue to be enhanced, as it achieves different milestones on its way to IOC. As of tonight there is only one operator of the Raphael, that tells you that confidence in the F-35 is very high, and the people who are spending the money have a great deal more confidence in the F-35 than the competition, LockMart has built a winner, the partners are buying an aircraft with the same capabilities as the USAF, NAVY, and MARINES, and they will be able to operate seamlessly with other F-35 operators, and that is a big deal!
