brimstone is good but it would need numbers, If American forces want to take a Armored column from the air best is a 1000 pounder CBU97 which F35 Should be compatible with.
The CBU97 is a sensor Fuzed weapon it packs 10 bomb packs each with 4 tank busters

I didn't get what "swap" this would be, anyway:

Canada would like to receive 4 of the As that the USAF is in que to purchase, and they would swap the USAF four later As that they are in Q to buy. Since they are an ealier tier aircraft, they will be a little more costly, but Canada realizes they need to get their F-35 program up and running, and USAF won't mind allowing our neighbors to move up in the Que.

thanks for the explanation, AFB, now I understand more also the title of that article ... this "swap" is an outrage for Canadian F-35 critics, I guess ... but as the article says,
Canada is still an official partner in the F-35 program and has not informed the US government or Lockheed Martin of any plans to change that.

No doubt. Use as many CBU-97/105s as you want, and finish the stragglers with Brimstones/SPEARs. This helps the point I was making, that the A-10 may have outlived its utility. Things get a lot cheaper if the A-10s go and the manpower is directed into the F-35 program.

My point was the Generals think it doesn't matter if it is an A-10 or a F-35. It flies low, it dies. There is only so much armor on aircraft, making the A-10 a bit of a underperformer in "today's" battlefield.

At medium altitude and with weapons like the Spear, there shouldn't be an armored column today that would survive a F-35. .
Some think that about the A-10, others do not, including myself.

The A-10 is anything but an "underperformer." That type of terminology is used by some officers who want to spend the money that the A-10 uses (which is dirt cheap by today's standards for maintenance) and eat that money up for other programs they are connected with.

We will see who prevails I suppose.

However, to date the A-10 has performed very well in those environs whenever called upon...and some of the nations had decent anti-air. The US can and has used aircraft like the F-117, Strike Eagles, and others (and this will include the F-35) to take down those capabilities lessening the danger for an A-10.

I believe we will see the A-10s around for a good deal longer...and hope that is the case. The impact to the foot soldiers is also a HUGE factor...and they have made it perfectly clear what they prefer.

DAA, DA DA DA, DA, DA, DA, Da,----DA DA DA DA, DAH DAH DAh DAh DA! Theme from the A team there gentlemen, yes I know I can't sing, but humor me, I work very hard to keep you entertained and educated, and not to take myself to seriously. This combination is the dynamic duo, for real, these aircraft, paired together will dominate any future battle field, the only real threat to that is our lame duck president and whats left of the dem Senate, this is NOT political, but rather command and control, the US military has suffered more under this administration than at any time in this nations recent history. We could call the Raptor/ThunderHogge II the "beautiful birds", as together, they almost guarantee air superiority even when we consider our good friends the Chinese, (yes, I am still hopeful, and working very hard to encourage everyone not to "scrap" this relationship), and the Russians, (not much hope here with Mr. P's ego and ambition?):p:p
