NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — Among the F/A-22’s opponents, there’s none more determined than Maj. Robert Garland, whose job is to beat the Raptor, the Air Force’s most advanced fighter jet.

It’s a tough job. He flies an F-15C.

He’s never won.

.... etc ....

Same thing happened during Cope India 2004( It was a training exercise/aerial wargame between the Indian Air Force and U.S. Air Force). The IAF's Su-30K(not the latest MKI, Indians refused to entered it) "shot down" the USAF's F-15Cs most of the time(some say 90%)....:coffee:

But AFAIK, the F-15 were severely hampered, with both a numerical disadvantage, and the thing that they werent allowed to use AIM-120s.

Both the F-15Cs and Su-30ks detect each other at about the same time. But the F-15Cs radars were fouled up by multiple reflections(clutters) by the surrounding mountains(Gwalior ranges). Somehow the Russian radars are better at filtering out the clutters.(or maybe the Indians just turn off their radars and just relied on their IRSTs) :coffee:

If AMRAAM were allowed and AESA radars were used, F-15C would not have had the same problem, that's for sure. I'm sick of listening about Cope India. Clearly, F-15Cs faced a severe disadvantage. I hear all the stuff about su-30ks weren't at their full standard either. Well, guess what? They are not going to be that way for a few years. It's all about what you have right now that counts.

Cope India is the most accurate method of evaluating the combat performances between the Su-30k and the F-15C without resorting to a shooting war. India and the U.S. plan to have another joint training exercise/aerial wargame in the future, probably involving the Su-30MKI and the F-22. The F-22 must win this one. If it doesn't win, then have a :nana:

Most important things in modern combat:
1. radar
2. stealth
3. BVR capability

F-15C was missing two of the 3 and facing numerical disadvantage. It is not accurate at all.

the f-15 had bvr, but that was fairly useless in a close combat wargame with mk1s, master of dogfights.

it was denied AMRAAM, so all it had was AIM-9C I think

The F-15s would have had more victories if they were equiped with AMRAAMs. :)
