) personnel in the Jiribam area of Manipur on Monday, according to media reports citing official sources.
The clash took place at Jakurador Karong in the Borobekra sub-division, where militants had launched a series of attacks, setting shops on fire and targeting houses and a nearby Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp.
During the firefight, two CRPF personnel sustained injuries, with one in critical condition, officials said. The confrontation began after heavily armed militants initiated their assault, prompting an immediate response from the security forces.
"After the firing ceased, the area was searched and 10 (ten) dead bodies of armed militants were recovered along with arms and ammunition (3 nos. of AKs, 4nos. of SLRs, 2 nos. of INSAS, 01 no. of RPG, 01 no. of Pump Action Gun, BP Helmets and Magazines).
The attack comes amid heightened tensions following the death of a 31-year-old woman in Zairon Hmar village last week, allegedly at the hands of armed miscreants, which has left the district on edge.

Jiribam district on Thursday (November 7, 2024) night.

The attack on Zairawn, a Hmar tribal village, pointed to a return to violence in Manipur after a brief lull. Hmars are ethnically related to the Kuki-Zo people,

in the State since May 3, 2023.

Police officials said the extremists attacked the village, about 7 km from district headquarters Jiribam, at around 9 p.m. A gunfight ensued for about an hour.
Confirming the incident, the district’s Superintendent of Police, Kh. Robinsun Singh sought the District Magistrate’s permission to conduct an autopsy on 31-year-old Zosangkim Hmar at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital in southern Assam’s Cachar district. He also sought the deputation of an executive magistrate for the formality.

The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), a Kuki-Zo organisation, claimed the attackers shot and captured Zosangkim Hmar, a 31-year-old woman and mother of three children from the village, before burning her alive.

Even though Jai Hinds are still focused on China and its goodies from the Zhuhai Airshow, India is burning on all sides. From uprisings in Occupied Kashmir, to troubles with their independent neighbour Bangladesh and this civil unrest in Manipur, it's clear Biden's CIA wasn't sitting idle in South Asia these few years.

If China isn't willing to get its hand dirty and get involved with India affairs, then the MSS should at least team up with Pakistan's ISI to counter India, similar to the relationship between CIA and Mossad.

How to get hands dirty right now though?

I think this moment is not an opportune moment. If a revolt is called without the right preparation, it will simply be crushed.

We already played Khalistan card not long ago to fuck over Indian relationship with the west. Rather than using it for maximum damage, I believe it's use was forced to prevent India from fully going to the west.

On the topic of Hindu violence against Christians however, there is a favorable opportunity that can present itself. Under Trump, there are elements of Christian nationalists that if the demon worship and persecution of Christians are revealed in a public way between India and the Project 2025 US government... It could result in useful and tangible gains.

And the attack on Indian-west relationship through appealing to anti-hindu sentiment has not reached full potential yet either. When Trump starts deporting, there will be new tensions.

In short, the current moment should not be as good of a time to get hands dirty than a few months later.

Who's we though? I don't recall China ever mention Khalistan ever, even though Khalistan leaders openly support China's claim of South Tibet.

Hard to say, most Indians feel that the Indian lobby influences Trump and Modi has good relations with Trump, so India-US relations will be better than under Biden. Also remember a lot of the border troubles between China and India happened under Trump, so I don't think India's persecution of Christians will end or affect relations. But regardless intelligence operations are multi-year affairs, CIA's operation in the region is no different. I doubt they will suddenly end when Trump comes into office.

Irrelevant what some Indians think. Just pay attention to the zeitgeist about hindus among westerners. And the most extreme of anti hindu hate is among the Trumpists.

The khalistan thing worked so well because both westerners and Indians are culturally highly emotion driven. I don't think it's anywhere near over, rather it's just starting.

China can keep popping incidents for India to keep them neutral, but for the big step of actually returning to South Tibet and the historical empire borders, China should probably make sure all it's domestic growth options have been exhausted first and also remilitarize the country.

Violence escalates in Manipur: Protester killed in firing, NIA takes over three key cases – top developments

NEW DELHI: Violence in Manipur continued to escalate on Monday, with one protester killed and six others dying in separate incidents, as clashes between security forces and civilians intensified. The unrest has forced the imposition of curfews and internet shutdowns across several districts, including Imphal East and West, amid growing concerns about public order.
Union home minister Amit Shah is set to chair a high-level meeting on Monday to assess the security situation and formulate strategies to stabilise the region.
On Sunday night, a protester in his twenties, identified as K Athouba, was killed during a clash with security forces in Jiribam district, according to ANI. Police said that the agitators who vandalised properties near Babupara faced firing, though it remains unclear who opened fire. Eyewitnesses alleged the shots came from the direction of security forces.
Bodies Found in Assam River After Manipur Unrest
Meanwhile, two bodies, an unidentified woman and a young girl, were found in Assam's Barak river. The bodies were discovered inside a gunny sack.
This discovery follows unrest in neighboring Manipur sparked by the discovery of six bodies. The six victims, found earlier on Sunday, are believed to be three women and three children who went missing from a relief camp in Jiribam, Manipur. Jiribam has been experiencing violence, leading to the displacement of many and the establishment of relief camps.
Following the killings, the authorities imposed an indefinite curfew in Imphal East and West, alongside a suspension of internet services in seven districts. Streets in Imphal remain largely deserted, with heavy deployment of security personnel outside key sites such as the chief minister’s residence and the Raj Bhavan.
Markets and public transport services are shut, with only pharmacies and a few private vehicles operating. Security has also been heightened around legislators' residences, following several arson attacks over the weekend.
The Centre has also reimposed the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in violence-hit areas, underlining the gravity of the situation.
In Imphal valley, enraged mobs torched the homes of multiple political figures, including BJP and Congress legislators. On Saturday night, the ancestral residence of chief minister N Biren Singh narrowly escaped being stormed by protesters. The incidents are linked to public outrage over the killings of women and children allegedly abducted by militants in Jiribam district.
On Sunday, the National People's Party (NPP) announced its withdrawal of support from the BJP-led government, citing its inability to restore peace. However, the BJP retains a majority in the 60-member Assembly with 32 MLAs, along with support from other parties.
Manipur has been embroiled in ethnic violence since May 2023, following clashes during a rally organised by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe status. Over 220 people have been killed, and thousands displaced as tensions persist between the Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups.

Looks like more protests and killings so far. Jai Hinds are in trouble now.

How come no one is peddling the stupid narrative of India collapsing? When compared to China where the incident in Zhuhai and the college stabbings are ferreted out as the surest signs of Chinese brittle and unstable system that some have drank the Kool aid
Cause the CIA didn't have the budget.

More Central forces heading to Manipur, Amit Shah gives directions to restore order

As authorities in Manipur grappled with the situation on the ground following a fresh wave of ethnic violence, the Centre decided Monday to send another 50 companies of paramilitary forces, comprising more than 5,000 personnel, to the state to restore order.
“An additional 50 companies have been ordered to be rushed to Manipur this week. While 35 units will be drawn from the CRPF, the rest will be from the BSF,” the source said.
The move to send more troops comes in the wake of the deteriorating situation there following the killings in Jiribam on November 11.
On November 14, the Centre reimposed the Disturbed Areas status under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in the jurisdiction of six police stations in the state’s valley areas, including Jiribam.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued the notification, citing the “volatile” situation in Manipur and instances of “active participation of insurgent groups in heinous acts of violence”.

In Jiribam Sunday night, 22-year-old Kh Athouba Singh was shot dead during a confrontation between security forces and a large group of protesters near the local police station.
Tensions have been running high ever since November 11 when armed men, who police said were Hmar militants, attacked a CRPF camp and a nearby relief camp and allegedly abducted six persons of a Meitei family – three women and three children including an infant. Five bodies have since been recovered from a river, triggering violent protests. A sixth body, found Monday but still to be identified, is believed to be that of the last member of the missing family.

Also Monday, the state government extended the suspension of Internet services in all valley districts and in the districts of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi by another two days.
