These things look pretty serious.
Its not just a standard riot thing. Its on the same level as war footage we see in other countries.
I wonder how much is being downplayed here.
Tons is probably being downplayed, and for good reason. It is integral to Indian power projection into Southeast Asia in the coming decades. If the civil war in Myanmar draws to a close or the situation is stabilized, rail could transport goods to India. Or they could be covering footage to maintain the legitimacy of the Union. Just imagine if any large country had this sort of conflict, it would make headlines.
Plus, a lot of the geography makes this place a make-shift buffer from anyone coming in from the East (if its internal affairs were stable).
