The difference is that HK was ALREADY under PRC control. It is useless to fight another opium war . However, Taiwan remains de facto independent and stands a chance of winning should the US intervene. The Taiwan Strait is also another prime playing ground for US submarines (especially if the Y-8Qs could be grounded). Yes China has missiles, but at some point, all the SRBMs, GLCMs, and MRBMs would run out. What is needed is boots on the ground, which would be very hard for China achieve should the US choose to intervene.

For Beijing, why not just spend the next 3-5 years building its ICBM and hypersonic gliders arsenals, as well as vastly expanding the amphibious assault fleet. China has the industrial capacity, but it needs more times to stockpile arms. Also, more airports and helicopter refueling stations are needed.

America was afforded and accorded all the freedom and leeway to conduct her domestic and foreign policy business unimpeded from any external powers and every leaders of that country have expressed it so from Monroe to Biden.

So that is why I argue that China needs to spend the next 3-5 years stockpiling arms (both conventional and nuclear) if it wants to stand a chance against the joint force of Taiwan, US, Australia, Japan, and India. Keep in mind that once a conflict breaks out over Taiwan, India will SURELY attack along the border. It is literally QUAD versus China, and the PLA needs more ammo, advanced ammo.

No one is suggesting China to take any active measures at reunification at least until 2028. I'd prefer an even longer term, say 2045.

Taiwan has a total fertility rate of about 1. China just needs to keep its TFR to about 1.5-1.7 and we will win.

Yeah I could've mentioned China can wipe out US carriers with its assorted anti-ship missiles and China's anti-stealth radar will detect any bombers coming in to prevent those strikes. Or how about knocking out all the US important satellites they need to fight? Just look at that billion dollar high tech radar Taiwan bought from the US that could see most of the coast of China. China jammed it useless once Taiwan turned it on for the first time. I could've said that but it's as speculative as what you were saying. But what's not speculative is China is accused of being worse than Nazi Germany and waging genocide right now and the West does nothing. That's a fact.

People here talking about how totally strong the US is, and how it would totally crush China lol

Facts:
1) Anything US-owned inside the first-island chain will get sunk
2) 30% chance that US ships inside the 2nd island chain will get sunk

As you can see, 1st island chain is secured. And the PLA is now working on securing the 2nd chain as well.

IMO the biggeest concern is a potential blockade

Thinking the US military is going to operate like a well-oiled machine that doesn't miss a beat is questionable. Yeah like how the US exaggerates the enemies' capabilities in war games, the US exaggerates about themselves too. Just a few years back the US Navy had four ship collision incidents that were the fault of the crews. Two involved Aegis ships colliding with transport ships larger than themselves. Now how do you not see a ship larger than your ship right in front of you? I'll bet it started becoming a problem when Haliburton was able to lobby that it be contracted to do all that work soldiers had to do for themselves like cook and clean for discipline.

Now they jumping up and down like crazy after seeing that the Chinese are ripping out US tech

Fuck em, they started this tech war/cold war, and hoped that Trump would help them gain marketshare (looking at you, Qualcomm and Apple) and now that Chinese indigenous innovations are going to shut out all western tech, they're scrambling for damage control.

Nup, don't forget in the years from 2016 to present, these white anglo companies profited immensely from the travails of huawei being sanctioned and now that China and Huawei and striking back, they're crying for mercy. Fuck em.
