you guys think China will run into problems with the EMALS like the US did?
I think there's reason to think that China would face different problems. For the US, EMALS was slated to be a part of the Ford class long before it became a mature technology, so it was installed despite teething issues. For China, EMALS was not originally intended to be incorporated in 003, and reportedly 003's construction was delayed to incorporate EMALS because of how advanced its development was.

Based on that, I speculate that China would have less problems with EMALS itself, but may have more issues with its integration into the carrier.

If you look at the difference between EMALS and steam catapults, the EMALS is a much simpler design with far less complexity.
