What do you think ... next shed gone or not gone yet? Looks a bit yellowish/brownish similar to when the waist catapult was shown for the first time.

Yes - That is around one month after the first shed was dismantled.

In the meantime... Hopefully the last shed can be dismantled before October 1st. Once the last shed is gone, the first sea trial (hopefully) isn't far off.

Probably, new technology is always finicky. However due to the secretive nature of the PLA we might not know if there are problems or not.

The Chinese are proceeding in a very structured way and above all: they are not planning any overly ambitious developments. I expect that the Chinese will have fewer problems than the Americans with the introduction of innovative catapult types.

It's not just the EMALS, the US navy's newest aircraft carrier has been plagued with some embarrassing technological problems such as clogged toilets causing "overflowing" costs.

Let's hope the Fujian does not have a toilet problem.

It's common knowledge in published articles that the US EMALs has a fundamental design flaw where individual components cannot be electrically isolated from the entire system.

So when a component like one of the energy flywheels needs repairs, they have to shut down the entire system.

It would be incredible if the Chinese Navy didn't put in electrical isolation switches which allows individual components to be worked on whilst the rest of the EMALs continues to operate as normal.

My guess is that this factor alone will make the Chinese EMALs more reliable than the Ford carrier EMALs
