It is just like what I said in my last post: if the time of launch mattered most to Chinese authorities, they would allow workers returning work. But I don't think they except the shipyard manager care it that much.
I mean is there truly a need to rush 003? Will its capabilities be important for say taking Taiwan?

And also, how big will this delay be? 2 months? If so, is 2 months really that much? (could it possibly be reduced down the line?)

Do you think delivery workers could fetch the food from thin air like witches and wizards in Harry Potter movies and books? There are cooks, food factory workers and shop assistants processing them. And there also are workers working in factories supplying electricity, water, medical material and equipment...etc. “Essential workers” and what level of quarantine measures are supposed to be taken are defined by the authority which rules China, not by military fan boys and girls who rule a internet forum. In 2020, thousands of Chinese soldiers involved in a hand-to-hand combat with Indian soldiers. If all these soldiers had been quarantined for that, Indian troops would have already taken over Lhasa since no Chinese troops left to guard the border.

I suggest you move on your opinion to the dedicated COVID thread as it is getting OT.

One advice, don't get defensive, I was only telling you how delivery workers are regulated from personal experience in early 2020 when I was in Beijing. Whatever you said in this post and your last post IS at best your GUESS.

These are good questions. Since it is in China, the shipyard manager definitely have means to make the lost time up later if the shipyard itself has delayed the project.

At current stage, most time are used by calibrating, adjusting and troubleshooting problems of subsystems like radar, catapults...etc. Usually technicians and engineers from manufacturers of these subsystems do most of these jobs. Since these manufacturers are not in Shanghai, it is unlikely they are affected by the lockdown.

For example: just assume that the catapult system needs 6 months to adjust/calibrate, and the shipyard planned to decorate the captain cabin last month. Now due to the lockdown, the decoration is postponed to next month. Would it cause the delay of the whole project? Definitely not.

2 months is nothing for a project of this magnitude and introducing such a key technology that will likely be used for decades.

That being said, it is absolutely a necessary
capability to have since it will be the best way to launch seaborne ISR aircraft like ASW and AWACS.

Yes, I’m doubt so much about the cheap rumour that Type 003 Aircraft Carrier stopped.

Even Tesla already resume their production in Shanghai Factory, No Way China don’t give Shipyard Workers Priority
I think they are resuming because Chong Ming district has loosened lockdown because they have controlled the community spread.
No idea how Tesla managed to get that deal to resume work in their giga factory though! Musk must have friends in VERY high places.....

I assume the other shipyards in other cities have dry docks that can handle 003/004 construction in the future? Gonna need to ramp output of those dumplings once the design flaws are found and fixed, and to prevent disasters (natural or man-made) in one city shutting down all carrier production.
