Somebody should inflate a J-31 decoy on deck and watch the freak out that ensues.

... Uh, we've already seen J-35 mockup on CV-18 and it's probably at sea on or in the carrier.

It wouldn't cause much of a freakout because if it was seen on the deck on a satellite images, it would be seen as either a mockup or perhaps the real aircraft doing aviation trials on it which we expect in the near future anyway.

And if you mean the land based "J-31" why would that relate to Pakistan at all, given we won't expect the land based "J-31" to be on CV-18 to even get on the flight deck to begin with (it can't even land on it let alone take off from it), not to mention on a satellite image of this quality we wouldn't be able to reliably differentiate from a J-35 mockup versus a J-31 mockup.

All of which is to say.... This joke doesn't make any sense to me?

Only @Deino gets it.

There's a joker on PDF @Deino keeps arguing with who claims that J-31 will enter service with PAF imminently, in fact any day now. The latest suggestion was 2026.

Honestly 2026 is not that far off. The carrier plane for China is already flying, just matter of testing.

I'm aware of that, but it seems a bizarre joke that has no bearing for CV-18, unless we are going to bring in jokes relating to J-31/PAF for anything that is vaguely tangentially related to J-31.

Indeed, even if there is no relevance at all, he is so much obsessed that any image, any rumour or whatever is interpret as „it will come to Pakistan soon (= in 2026). In fact he makes no difference between demonstrators, prototypes, he confuses all designations used so that in the end he often has the same individual aircraft once listed as the FC-31, as J-31 or even the J-35 prototypes.

But we are already too much off topic!
