The only difference is EVERYTHING ... island, AESA, propulsion, radar, bridge, size, weight, internal layout, bigger hangar, highly optimised, etc ... you name it

I can see China one day exporting the Liaoning type (001A) carrier to other countries once the Type 002 with catapults (steam or EM) gets built and launched.

We don't know whether hangar size or propulsion system have changed. The hangar has the same forward and aft bulkhead as Liaoning and Kuznetsov, so it should be same size. The propulsion system is at the same location with the same size of boiler- and enginerooms. It has the same size of intakes and uptakes. Is in general more likely the same as Liaoning with minor changes like steam pressure as discussed in the last days.
