sorry, new to the forum, but could somebody just give me a brief explanation to the differences between this and the Liaoning?

An optimized island, other radar, minor differences at the sponsons.

and also probable internal changes to placement of relevant sections. Think optimization, minor rearrangement of spaces etc

It is rumoured CV-17/001A will be launched end of the year as removal of scapefoldings are taken place and flight deck being scrubbed and cleaned for painting.....

The only difference is EVERYTHING ;) ... island, AESA, propulsion, radar, bridge, size, weight, internal layout, bigger hangar, highly optimised, etc ... you name it

We don't know whether hangar size or propulsion system have changed. The hangar has the same forward and aft bulkhead as Liaoning and Kuznetsov, so it should be same size. The propulsion system is at the same location with the same size of boiler- and enginerooms. It has the same size of intakes and uptakes. Is in general more likely the same as Liaoning with minor changes like steam pressure as discussed in the last days.
