Totally agree Jeff, extra couple of J-15 ... thats what I would do as a target to make it smaller .. and it is very much achieveable

The purchase cost of $20 include the drawing as told by the Xu Zhengpin. In fact that is the first thing that he secured. But I believe by now they all been converted to 3 D drawing file of PDMS during the refurbishing of Varyag.That is why the Chinese save cost and time other than small changes here and there the design is done!.Nobody use blue print anymore this day!. They don't even use plotter anymore. Unless special case.They use computer projection for meeting and laser printing for day to day use

I heard years back that China did get the blueprints for Varyag when they bought the ship. They will have had enough time and experience to refine and improve the plans for the second carrier.
