I have to say the Rate of progress during construction has been much higher than I had expected. It also seems the intention is to complete the ship to a high degree before letting her out of dry dock, instead of launching when the hull is structurally complete and leave most of the fitting out to after launch.

If I remember right, the official plan is to let it swim end of year (Chinese year?) - and it seems they are on schedule.

This would mean January or February, which really isn't that far off.

I expect to see a painted hull by the end of December.

Let's take wagers. I'm betting a launch before the Chinese New Year. :D

I'll bet one 'like' that she'll launch in March or April.

In all seriousness, the rumors we've heard so far all indicate that the carrier will only be launched when everything's ship-shape. By that, I mean a full coat of paint, all sensors equipped (Chinese MoD confirmed the carrier is in fitting-out stage, will provide link on request), all wiring complete, etc.

This could mean a launch date anytime from February to June depending on how fast they work, but I think March/April would be a safe estimate.
