, The day of the 68th anniversary of the Chinese navy. We have concluded that it seems difficult for Type 001A to leave the dry dock, given the state of progress of its construction.

A more careful examination of the photograph shows that the layout of the envelope in question and the shape of the seal and the characters used are not quite the same as the other official first-day envelopes.

Extensive research on the website of China National Philatelic Coorporation and several sites of the Chinese philatelists did not give any indication either of the existence, or a forthcoming publication, of such a first-day envelope and associated stamps .

This point of inconsistency is also raised by several Chinese military analysts, who talk about a possible computerized work by amateurs.

And do you think that Type 001A, the second Chinese aircraft carrier currently under construction at Dalian
Shipyard, will be launched on April 27, 2017?

Now that's awkward, according to one chinese forum the first day envelope is just one of the design proposals by the "Navy Stamp collectors Association", an unofficial organization composed of naval veterans.
Followed are the original designs by the association.
So, just forget April 23 for now and wait...

Technically if the hull is already painted it could be launched at any time. Pierside cranes easily have the capacity to lift the AESA panels into place, now probably the biggest items still not installed on the carrier.

Just want to point out that she technically can't be launched because she was not built on a slipway. She can only be floated out.

Launching of a ship off of a slipway is attended by some risk, and is a irreversible process, hence the recognition of the occasion.

Floating the ship out is a pure ceremonial occasion. They may simply pump some water into the dry dock and call it a launch without even moving the hull. This is because she will no doubt whatsoever find herself back in dry dock before she is fully fitted out.

Warships launched from slipways also go to dry dock before the ensign is raised for the first time aboard. Launching means giving name, christening etc.

I don't know what's the point of this post as it's done when warships leave their 'place of birth' docks and it doesn't matter whether there's slipway or float out process.
