ABOARD LIAONING AIRCRAFT CARRIER, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- A naval formation consisting of aircraft carrier Liaoning has conducted take-off and landing drills in the South China Sea on Monday, a military source said on Tuesday.

The formation, which is on a "cross-sea area" training exercise, involved J-15 fighter jets, as well as several ship-borne helicopters, the source said without giving specific numbers.

Complex hydrological and meteorological conditions in the South China Sea as well as a cold front in area have posed some challenges, but the source said the drill provided important experience in the build-up of combat capability of the aircraft carrier formation.

Than put the majority of the Z-9C and Ka-27/28 onto those destroyers and let the Liaoning carry the Z-18.
They do ;)

You can see equipment for flight deck personnel no comparison with Russians and their big smocker... :=)

The J-15s are large, but the US Navy has operated larger aircraft and done so successfully.

I believe the Chiense are doing well with the J-15...but would like to see their night operations if they are doing any.

Jeff, the latest news is that they have done some night ops on the early morning of Jan 3, 2017. I'm sure the latest photos will start trickling in.

What follows is all twenty-one of the known production J-15s being seen taking part in exercise aboard the Liaoning.

Not all at once...I used three different videos to get thise pics, and 112 is the only one I could not find a pic of on deck...si if someone knows of a decent hi-res pic of J-15 #112 seen n deck, please let me know: 100-104.

Impressive.

They have gotten every single one of the production aircraft out to the Liaoning and tested them...and they are doing it ften.

The ship is capable of carrying them all at once...I just have to wonder if they have done that.

The most we have seen on deck at once is 13...but I have to believe that they have had more than that on the ship.

either way...they have had them all on the ship at one tme or another.

As I say...impressive.
