Ok as I look at the fantail of CV-16 I see no indication of any sort of Jet shop. Where is it if it does exist? Thank you.

Like I said earlier...I do not believe they have ne. I d not believe the Kuznetsov (which this hull was built after) has one either.

HAving it on the starboard side like that (or the port side) is not the best place IMHO. HAving it on the fantail allows you to test that sucker back and away from the carrier and anything that might come along side it.

Will the new carrier the Chinese are finishing now?

I do not know...we shall have to wait and see. They may wait until their CATOBAR carrier for one to be installed.

So, the original propulsion is used ? I didin't know that the propulsion still intake, I thought the Russia/Ukraine took it away .... China really got a great deal

Sorry if I missed this, but do we know the exact designation of the original propulsion system ?

23 knots not bad

They were probably doing normal sailing there not flight operations

I expect on flight operations they go faster to get as much air flow as they can over the flight deck to get as much lift as possible to get the J15 off the deck

25 or 27 knots and 5 knot head wind they can get 30 knots enough to lift more gear on the fighters

This is problem with STOBAR

When the carrier goes to flight quarters, it speeds up and turns into the wind. That might be the opposite direction in relation to the intended destination. When flight operation has finished, the carrier maintains its high speed to rejoin the screen of escorts. The average speed of the whole carrier group is less then the speed the carrier makes while aircraft are departing or landing.

If intense flight operations are in progress, the carrier has to perform many racetrack pattern and the result is less average speed of the whole carrier group. A high average speed of the whole carrier group may be an indication of less flight operation.
