Not really first time pass the first island chain, first time with full complement of J15 . I heard 19 total . First time live firing. first time buddy to buddy refueling, first time first time sail east of Taiwan. The longest exercise I can remember
not first time in Sanya, be there like last year - but first time combat ready

this passing east of Taiwan could be a sign to the next US-Gov., or just to hurry bevor the storm come over

Usually the replenishment group will be off and away from the carrier as it does its exercises and they will join when needing replenishment.

The Japnese confirmed seeing the three DDGs (1 52D and 2 52Cs) and the two FFGs (two 54As) with the Liaoning as it passed. I expect the replenishment ship and the 056 were within 30 miles, perhaps less, transiting on their own. IMHO, they will come together when replenishment is neeed. The SSN was most likely accompanying the carrier group..

Wait a minute, is that 19 total aircraft or 19 J-15s??? Thanks.

It would be interesting to see if CV-16 headed to the Philippines and started a humanitarian mission because of the typhoon.

I've compiled a complete album of 14 hi-res photos from this exercise here:

Excellent collection of photos Higgle. Excellent.

I did notice something gents. Only in the second photo of the posted album do I see a J-15 armed with any missiles or bombs.

One thing I'd like to see some photos of armed aircraft launching from CV-16.

I also wonder how many of those aircraft will suffer any engine problems that cannot be repaired aboard CV-16 because they do not have a jet shop. Hi-performance military aircraft do breakdown. Trust me on that...I'd love to check ot the PLAN aircraft maintenance procedures.
