Suppose to be Tuesday so that's tomorrow depending on which time zone you are in. I think there will be no finger pointing just yet because Malaysia wants to do their own field investigation to gather hard evidence for world court.

Still don't see the MH17 report. How much the West has been spinning?

I didn't see an announcement but the report is now promised for Tuesday. Delay connected with truce? I don't know.
The report is based only on the black boxes which gives us the exact time and place of the hit, radar and the talk between air traffic control and the aircraft.

They really don't need to. Other then sophisticated systems the Ukraine was Russia's cold war arms locker. and that that was not built in joint with Russia was produced at home.
Sending weapons would have been a good way to introduce lots of advisers. But with the Ukie army as demoralised as it is it would have been unlikely to influence the outcome of further fighting while damagining the reputation of the weapons and countries concerned.

Further on SampanViking's point that the purpose of the offensive was to incite Russia to intervene and that any damage to Donbass was welcome:
Kiev said some days ago ( I only saw the connection yesterday ) that giving up the airport of Luhansk wasn't important as the runway had been thoroughly destroyed. As the Novorussians don't have an air force and as the Russian air force has enough air bases near enough in case of intervention that destruction was mere economic sabotage.

This article is pretty much in line with SampanViking's premise. Not the first such articles as Cassad also said similar yesterday and so did VK. Does this SampanViking has a line to the separatists? I wonder. His only difference from them is that he believes the ceasefire will hold but Cassad doesn't.

Malaysia urges MH17 investigators to begin work at crash site before winter
Malaysian officials are urging an international experts team to launch their work at the MH17 crash site in Ukraine as soon as possible. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak said on Saturday that it was important to get to the crash area before the arrival of winter. The PM stated that Malaysia had convincing intelligence data about the crash causes, but stressed it was necessary to collect evidence at the crash site – which might be more difficult in the winter season. A Malaysian team of 30 investigators is expected to arrive in Ukraine early next week. The group will include Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and various divers who will scan the lake at the crash site.

This part of the statement is interesting as the Malaysia govt seems to know who is responsible but needs to collect more hard evidences.

"The PM stated that Malaysia had convincing intelligence data about the crash causes".

The separatists has released a batch of Kiev soldiers.

15 Ukrainian soldiers freed by local militia in Donetsk
The local militia in Donetsk freed 15 Ukrainian soldiers from Cherkas and the 40th battalion of the ground defense, said Boris Filatov, deputy head of the Dnepropetrovsk region, on his Facebook page. “The Donetsk side releases captives at our demand without exchange of additional conditions,” he added. The process was guided by the head of the center of the prisoners’ exchange – Col. Gen. of Ukraine’s army reserve, Vladimir Rubin – according to Filatov. Earlier, the first two captives were freed by local militia in Lughansk region, according to the Ukrainian president’s press secretary, Svyatoslav Tsegolko. The exchange of captives falls under the ceasefire protocol signed by the two conflicting sides on Friday in Minsk.

Now I went again through the enigmatic VKontakte post by "Strelkov" from yesterday -- the Novorossia News Agency article

just quotes it, but I looked at the "discussion" below (128 posts right now) to try, to the very small extent I can, figure out "who is who" ... for example, "Strelkov" criticizes

speaking of foreign arms in the Ukraine, i have been looking back over the pictures from the Ukraine and one weapon seems missing. In 2012 the Ukraine licensed production of the IWI Tavor and its X95 derivative but chambered in the Russian 5.45x39AK74 bullet. Remarkably i have not seen a single one of these in either Pro Russian or Pro Government hands.

the Ukraine is already stocked with Cold war leftovers. The key weakness of the Ukrainian government is $$$ Money $$$ money for fuel, money for pay, money for food. They have the arms they have the tanks they have the fighters and all the other systems they lack the cash to operate and repair.

It's a failed state.
