It's remarkable how badly the "first world" countries are coping with COVID-19, and how well "third world" nations are doing. It's amazing how well Africa has been weathering this pandemic.

COVID-19 is almost enough to make me believe Karma really exists.

BTW, the Russia and US colors are highly misleading. Russia has ~500 daily deaths while US has 3000, but they are colored the same on this chart.

This map makes the US look really good. It shouldn't stop at 1,000+; the color should keep getting darker (or brighter red actually) going to 2,000, then 3,000 and it should show that even the most screwed up nations already stopped at about 1K but the US blew through 2K alone and stands peerless on top of the world at over 3K like Rudolph's nose in the night.

The fact they are still arguing amongst themselves instead of actually taking care of the virus (or maybe there inventory has been crippled given how much money they are printing) indicates they are really trying to kill people off.

How come Japan screwed up? Of all the East Asian countries Japan appears to be doing the worst.

Because they didn't do anything and pretended the pandemic doesn't exist, even as we speak they are saying the Olympics will go ahead this year come hell or high water. How many PCR tests does Japan run a day? Do you recall how the Diamond Princess quarantine went?

Unlike SK, Japan never attempted to test and trace coronavirus patients. Instead, Japan relied upon its citizens self-discipline and face masks to contain the virus. It got lucky in the first wave but Japan wanted to jump start its economy so decided to hand out free voucher for free travel and vacation which resulted the virus to spread all over Japan. Japan's failure is due to its obsession with its economy and Olympic and refused to take the necessary action.

From 0-24 on February 4, 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 20 new confirmed cases, including 14 imported cases (9 in Shanghai, 2 in Guangdong, 1 in Tianjin, Jiangsu 1 case, 1 case in Fujian), 6 local cases (5 cases in Heilongjiang, 1 case in Shanghai); no new deaths; 3 new suspected cases, all imported cases (all in Shanghai).

Hope no new cases pop up in Hebei and Jilin

Has Pfizer and Moderna released their full phase 3 trial data?

Both of them have published their phase 3 data in the NEJM. As to how complete the published data sets are, I am not 100% sure yet. Based on their published data, these vaccines are very effective. This is where the 94-95% efficacy came from. And Israel’s real-world data seem to back them up. Although Israel’s data show lower efficacy, this is not surprising since they are collecting hundreds of thousands of people’s data, instead of the limited 30,000 in each of the clinical trials.
