It seems that I'm defending the Pfizer vaccine now... I am defending science. Development of any biological/medical agent is messy in general because of lack of thorough understanding of our biological world. If you put any reagent under the microscope, you will find so many weird and messy things. And it will seem that every company is sugar-coating their babies. Take for example, aspirin, the most widely used over-the-counter drug in the history of the world. Can you imagine that if you give aspirin to a baby, there is a chance that your baby will develop Reye's syndrome, where the baby's liver and brain will swell. Symptoms include continuous vomiting, seizures or convulsions, loss of consciousness, and maybe death. A simple aspirin...

Be careful what you wish for. When many countries in the world begin to use the Chinese vaccines, you will begin to hear "horrible" stories of bad things happening to those getting the Chinese vaccines. They WILL happen! Believe me! These are not magical elixirs. They have been designed and manufactured by human and they will have serious adverse effects. And when hundreds of millions or billions of people take it, many of them (even when it's a minuscule percentage) will respond badly. And unfortunately, some of them will even die. This is statistics. You have no way around it. And Western media WILL blow them up and exaggerate every one of them. "Look! the horrible Chinese vaccines!" You will be busy defending all of them? How? Why not take this opportunity and explain to everyone that these side effects are common and a normal part of any vaccine? Be it Pfizer or any Chinese vaccines. It's normal. then when the Chinese vaccines begin to show bad effects, you can simply say "as I have told you before, this is normal to any vaccine."

What I'm saying is that for the Western, especially the Anglophone media, their propaganda machine has been once again too effective for their own good.

We all know here in SDF that vaccines do carry the odd adverse effects for certain people, thanks to your valuable inputs. But, the amount of serious effects in relation to the still small amount of people vaccinated seems a bit more for comfort. At this rate the Pfizer vaccine could turn out to be more dangerous than the virus itself.

But as you've pointed out, this ironically would absorbed or prepare the people to accept some of the sure to be coming cases of serious side effects of the Chinese vaccines, which I hope would not be as regular as the vaccines out at the moment.

Yes, the media is fixing their eyes on everything and putting every vaccine under their little microscope. It’s Pfizer now. Moderna will follow next week. The Chinese ones will follow soon after. They WILL pick them apart no matter what vaccines they are. They will focus even more the Chinese ones.

Plus, the Chinese vaccines are so much cheaper and a lot of developing countries have bought them. That means the population getting the Chinese vaccines will be so much larger. Assuming the Chinese vaccines are as safe or even safer than the western ones, you will get more people complaining about adverse effects. Can you see the nightmare? Everyday, at every corner of the world, someone is telling you they feel horrible after getting the Chinese vaccine...

Thats why you need to let people know NOW that these “horrible” effects are normal. It’s happening to Pfizer, Moderna and Chinese ones the same way. Complaining about the side effects of Pfizer and others now is like digging yourself a hole...

According to Taiwan authorities as of Oct 21, 2020, Out of the 544 infected people, 452 were imported cases.

Yet on Aug 1, 2020, a Japanese male was confirmed to be infected upon arrival at Narita after spending 1.5 months in Taiwan.

I can still remember halfway this year 18 Filipino returned home from Taiwan and were also tested positive for Corona.

I do like to see some think tank discussion on youtube you could see them push Taiwan as a success story of a Asian democracy that could contain corona. But no one dared to mention China's success story in those discussion if they do it was because its a dictatorship and not good containment policy.

According to this official, so far over one million vaccine shots have been given to the population with no serious side effects recorded. Additionally, 150,000 doses of the vaccine (inactivated type) have been given in phase 3 trials in overseas countries also with no serious side effects reported.

OK, let me get this straight. So far, Chinese vaccine candidates has been on trial in China AND various FOREIGN countries worldwide, and 1 case of serious side effect were recorded (I think it was in Peru?), discounting reasons not related to those vaccines itself (like the suicide case in Brazil).

Pfizer's vaccine were safe, according only to internal accounts, and many cases of adverse effects were almost immediately found right out of the gates, even though access to its vaccine are still limited.

These are what I could gather from the news.

However, in conclusion, we should keep in mind that vaccines invariably would cause some undesirable effects, especially when trying to vaccinate millions if not billions of people, so we must have realistic expectations from the Chinese vaccines candidates.

Now they are saying the it is unwise for Tiffany Pontes Dover (a 30-year-old mother-of-two and nurse manager at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN and now assumed to faint from pain or the sight of needle) to volunteer to get the COVID-19 vaccine live on television.

Reminds me of our mental gymnast forumite. Our mental gymnast cannot be Jennifer Smith or whoever wrote this?
