Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

It's getting pretty funny LOL. Even the comments sections shows that Americans know he's just trying to push blame.

Trump says he has evidence coronavirus came from a Chinese lab, but he can't reveal it

The reporter asked the president if he had personally seen evidence that the virus originated in a laboratory at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

“Yes, I have,” Trump said.

Pressed later on the specific evidence that gave him confidence that the virus had come from a lab, Trump said, “I can’t tell you that. I’m not allowed to tell you that.

Intelligence officials and disease experts are shooting down Trump's claim that the US has good reason to believe the coronavirus originated in a Wuhan lab

One intelligence official, who spoke to the newspaper under the condition of anonymity, said policymakers have been told in private briefings that China may have downplayed the outbreak in its early days, but there's no evidence that the virus was the result of an accidental transmission at a Wuhan lab.

"What we know is it's naturally occurring," a second anonymous intelligence official added. "We know that it came from Wuhan. There's been speculation: Did it come from a market? Did it come from a lab? We just don't know."

Meanwhile, experts said while labs are not free from human error, a lab accident in this case is not the most likely of scenarios.

"It's far more likely that Mother Nature is just a step ahead of us and has created a novel pathogen, now able to move quite effectively from human to human," Jason Rao, a bio-security specialist and former senior policy adviser to President Barack Obama, told The Post.
had the US had anything solid, it would've reacted in a completely different way (demanding reparations)

Ultra right winger like Steve Bannon is super pissed off. As a former chief architecture of Trump's trade war against China, he was boasting last year how trade war slowed down China and ended the managed decline of US
Out of nowhere, this virus thing pushed US off the cliff. Indeed no more managed decline, it's a deep fall off.
He was totally incensed that US has weakened more compared to China on this. Through this virus, China other enemy like India also weakened more compared to China.

Looking back, 3 historic events that has US suffered decline relatively to China. 9/11, 2009 financial melt down and 2020 coronas virus.

LOL China did not add a pandemic clause; China added an emergency/natural disaster clause that would have included anything from pandemic to earthquake/tsunami/drought, etc...
US doesn't care China honoring phase 1 as Trump ready to slap new tariff on China over virus
All of what China does is not to make the US care or to throw them any olive branch. Attacking someone is not the only way to defeat him; rather, oftentimes, the most humiliating defeats are inflicted by and opponent who lacks aggression and maleficence! It's clear to everyone that the US has been rotted clean of its civility and rationality from fear and hatred of China's rise. These actions are for the world to see that China can handle all of America's dirty tricks and underhanded tactics while maintaining composure and providing global aid at once.

When 2 guys are wrestling/biting/eye-poking while rolling on the ground, there is no clear winner. But when one is bleeding, cursing and swinging wildly as the other trips him up again and again with small movements while explaining combat tips/advice to the crowd, it becomes clear to all whom the superior fighter is- and whom deserves to be their leader.

Rather,it's lack of ability to collect damages through court is what make Trump go the tariff route
Absolutely, tariffs are all he's got in his "mind," but we all know that any tariffs that he could have done without inflicting more self-harm than damage to China, he has already exhausted in the trade war.

Is the US really worse off than china? I think that's hard to say. While I hope China gets back on her feet soon, it's too early to say that's the case. Any thoughts on the articles below?

The problems discussed are literally every country's problems, except to different degrees. The major difference is that getting over COVID-19 earlier, China has been supplying a lot of things to the rest of the world as they lose even their domestic ability to produce them. China's manufacturing PMI is already over 50 and unemployment has already begun to drop.

For things that can be compared, well, America's national malaise will be much longer than China's sharp but short lockdown. There is political turmoil in the US while China is unified on defeating the virus. Because China encountered the virus in January while the US not until March really, Q1 mostly affected China, barely the US at the very last 2-3 weeks. Despite this, Chinese Q1 GDP was 6.8% lower with the pandemic mostly behind it while American Q1 GDP is already 4.8% lower with the pandemic was just getting warmed up. I have no idea how much uglier it can get for the US in Q2 (certainly worse than 6.8%) while China's is already recovering back into growth. How many trillions did the US spend on stimulus? How many relief checks to citizens did the US have to send out? China needed nothing close.

Obviously, I don't have to compare number of cases and deaths for you. Basically, comparing the impact of the pandemic on China vs the US, in every area, I see either China dealing with it much better or yet to be determined but strongly suggestive that China is dealing with it much better.

Well, this should not be criteria of gauging the relative decline. But US 1million case infected and 60k leads the world. Shale gas industry nearly bankrupted.
