Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

Totally agreed, let's keep this thread clean for COVID-19 information.

On a separate note, my dad, who's in New Jersey, says his company is planning to reopen in two weeks. That's just completely nuts!
In my opinion, you can call it nut but not completely.

Everything in this world has its dark and bright sides. Cambodia is one of the countries that is slightly affected by the Covid-19, still, the government and people were so worried that we practiced social distancing, wearing mask, washing hands and staying at home. Some businesses were forced to close down and some others were closed down voluntary. The government even banned cross-province travel during the Khmer new year recently. However, after 2 months of all types of preventive measurement, people are feeling the paint; some loss their jobs and business, lost of income and the boring of staying within homes. With 7 days continuous of report of zero new case and more and more patient recover from the disease, I can see the people can no longer bear that paint. More and more people are going out. They all wish to go back to normal.

There is a major difference between Cambodia, with no new cases for 7 day, and New Jersey, which had 3,881 new cases and 132 deaths yesterday (Worldometer Covid-19 Data). Obviously, NJ is not quite ready to reopen.

Announced by the Ministry of Health of Cambodia a moment ago, today is the 8th day with no new case and two new recovery. Cambodia's covid-19 cases stand at 122 with 107 recovered, only 15 active cases.

Yes, NJ has a lot of new cases and deaths. If you open, people get infected and die but if you don't open, people starve and die. very difficult decision for government.

Nobody is going to starve from quarantine in New Jersey.

Does US and China have a treaty or something that allows this?

If US wants to foot the bill to find patient 0 let them lol. It's a fool's errand. Just have someone follow them so they don't try some sneaky shenanigans.

If China had allowed US "experts" to "help", there wouldn't be a different negative story spun? They act as if they know everything now without being in China. Look at the scandal of Chinese computer chips found in US military hardware. Senator John McCain called for an investigation and demanded China allow investigators into Chinese high tech factories to get to the bottom of it. What would that have done? It was just theater. If they wanted to know the truth, all they had to do was to go to the US military contractor, who wasn't Chinese because if he or she were, that would've been reported in the news furthering the conspiracy that Chinese agents infiltrated the US military industrial complex replacing computer chips in some grander act of war conspiracy, who decided he wanted to make a profit by buying the cheaper Chinese alternative just so he can make a bigger commission. No drums of war beating at all. Just John McCain thinking having the US have access to a factory would answer all the questions of how did Chinese computer chips ended up in US military hardware.

If it's a bunch of scientists instead of journalists/CIA, it might be fine. The Huawei thing was just completely made up.

I'd imagine the only issues they would be able to point out is "Oh China's BSL4 isn't up to standard" which still doesn't prove anything.

The lab was setup with West help and standards and practices.

Linda Quick was supposed to be US oversight of the lab.

She was removed in July, which is funny timing.

As an American CDC employee, they said, Quick was in an ideal position to be the eyes and ears on the ground for the United States and other countries on the coronavirus outbreak, and might have alerted them to the growing threat weeks earlier.

A part of their so-called transparency they demand would include letting the media have access too so they can spin any story they want as they do now. Look at Fauci. Everyone likes him but now you see he's also bending pressured by Trump to help in his spin.

Still remember the two American scientist on the WHO team that visited China to investigate the Covid-19 situation ? Did the US learn anything from it to help her prepare for the virus ? All the news median did was to spin the "human right tragedy of locking down Wuhan and Hubei".
