@vincent

You're thinking of an investigation that is going to be heavily swayed by political influences, or an investigation that is based on an endless loop of amplification of hearsays and MSM propaganda. If there is any indication of that being the case, I don't see why China should agree to the kind of investigation in the first place.

In any which way China should not allow a bunch of scientists and investigators from a not so friendly country/countries, outside of a WHO team, into her country. You'll never know what they'll do when you allow them into your backyard, especially when they are already accusing you of all sorts of bad deeds even before the investigation begins.

If an investigation is needed, it should be done after the Covid-19 pandemic is over. Now with little knowledge of the virus, an investigation makes no sense.

I agree, I don't think anyone should be foolish enough to believe anybody intended this to happen on purpose. As you say there is always the future risk, and it should be fully investigated to hopefully prevent another pandemic....

Re demands for an investigation, China should be proactive and demand a WHO led mission with a world wide remit, so they will be looking at the performance of every single government.

I somehow doubt there would be quite so much enthusiasm for an investigation from those shouting for it the loudest now under such a remit.

But: all investigations please only when the pandemic is over to its end.

And yes, we need investigations. But I would rather call it research, then nobody thinks of guilt and sin.

You could also call it reflection or debriefing. You should always do it when you've got through a situation. Especially when it was an unprecedented situation.

There is also much more to investigate. For example, the impact of declining fossil fuel consumption on our atmosphere. Such a chance (hopefully) won't come back so quickly.
