Yeah, I remember reading that post you wrote. Good stuff. Something about it struck me: it seemed like you were talking to children. Honestly, my animus toward Americans is so deeply rooted that it will accompany me to my grave, but even I was taken aback by the tone of what you wrote - it really seemed like you were trying to sit a slow child down and explain a lesson he just wasn't getting. Living among Americans, do you find yourself having to explain concepts like the existence of a community outside the individual and societal responsibility to them like you were explaining it to children?

I do apologize if my tone was too patronizing. I have been very frustrated by some of my own friends who seem to have this misconception that total freedom should take precedence over everything else. When the Houston mayor issued the stay-at-home order, one of my friends actually said “I would rather die than someone else tells me when I can leave my own home”. We tried to persuade him to follow order and he responded that he’s not used to live in a police state, even though his wife and kids were all scared. He was “forced” to change his mind when his wife threatened to kick him out the house... So he now officially lives in a police state. And he is planning a revolution, I guess...

I was feeling kinda good for a while until the Michigan protest happened yesterday. What were those people thinking?!

American Shipments of Coronavirus Supplies Stranded in China Under Export Restrictions

American companies have seen their shipments of coronavirus medical equipment, such as face masks and test kits, stranded in China after the country implemented new export restrictions this month.

The shipments of personal protective equipment and other medical equipment currently remain in warehouses in China, unable to obtain the new clearances required to be shipped out of the country.

About 1.4 million coronavirus test kits made by Massachusetts-based PerkinElmer are not able to leave the company’s Suzhou factory under the new restrictions, according to a State Department document

by the Wall Street Journal.

The document also noted that Minnesota-based 3M was told by a Shanghai vice mayor that Shanghai “relies on 3M’s locally produced N-95 respirators for its Covid-19 prevention efforts and lacks viable alternatives.” Lifting the restrictions would require permission from the upper echelons of the Chinese government, the mayor indicated, according to the State Department.

Western societies emphasized way too much individual freedoms and nothing on personal responsibilities. Individuals don’t exist in a vacuum in a society. We need to cooperate with each others for societies to exist. Sometimes that means we have to make sacrifices.

Supporters of that don't need fuel; they run on bullcrap all day long LOL. China produces the best quality product in the fastest time for the money and they still want to move so let them howl all they want as usual. Those people generally don't run businesses or run small scale failing/inconsequential ones anyway. China's not the only one. Mexico recently declared that if a US PPE factory wasn't making PPE for Mexico, then it wasn't providing an essential service to Mexico and must close down. That's how America deserves to be treated for trying force overseas producers to export all products to the US leaving none for the locals and snatching shipments headed for other countries.

Many countries, including Italy, are now contemplating reopening their economy. I would caution everyone here that the reopening WILL be the most dangerous time for everyone. Currently, most people stay at home and social distancing is at its maximal. When we all go back to work and go to restaurants and grocery stores after the reopening, while assuming everything is good, many asymptomatic people and people who just recovered from their earlier infections but still shedding viral particles like ticks will be among us. Many of us, who luckily escaped the first wave, will be infected. We will be in the second wave soon...

The infamous 1918 Spanish flu had 3 waves and lasted until the mid part of the 1919. Most people killed by the Spanish flu died in the second wave. Although the primary reason has been attributed to the WWI, where soldiers had to be all crammed in trenches, field hospitals and camps, the number one reason for such a high death toll has been undoubtedly more social interactions among certain populations. In the early 20th century, we had 1.7 billion population. Now we have close to 7 billion. With all of us sharing much less social distance among us, we are all like the WWI soldiers, living in and going to various crowded places...

So please be extra careful in the next few weeks, especially when your own community reopens with enthusiasm. Think you are doing a good job hiding from the bug now? You need to maintain the exact same rigor, and maybe even more strict, on maintain social distancing and your own personal hygiene. We are just about to enter the most dangerous phase of a pandemic...

Hokkaido controlled and fought covid19 until it was down to 1 or 2 a day and thought they managed to hold it at bay.
And then they took a breather and relaxed just that little little bit.

And I see the D declaring with his typical leadership that he won and wanted folks to get back to work.
European countries with new cases still numbering in thousands thinking they won?
or even by the hundreds that they won?
Or even by 2 digits that they won?

And Hokkaido got down to 1 or 2 a day!
Opening up as demanded by D and European politicians is a sick joke to me.
