Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

I like this passage in the above article:

LOL!

It's complacency, pure and simple. Until last Thursday, most Canadians were still operating under the illusion that this was just a slightly worse version of the flu.

There was an article in the news saying "things got bad overnight". No you fool, it didn't get bad overnight, this thing has been brewing for two months!

Relax. Someone mentioned as of last week this conspiracy will be all over by tomorrow, first day of spring and end of flu season.

I think Trump should really refrain from calling it the Chinese virus, considering his passport-carrying coronavirus may soon leave China and become as American as apple pie :p

On Mar. 18, for the first time since January, there are no new domestic cases in China, excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. All 34 new cases were imported from overseas (table 1). There are 11 deaths nationwide, all in Hubei. Also, there is no new confirmed case or suspected case reported in Hubei for the first time (table 2). China really needs to pay attention to imported case now. So far there are 189 of these.

Here's the racists reply from press briefing. As I sa8d earlier, he is seen as the commander-in-chief, the leader of the "free workd". A role model for others to follow. So if its ok for him to be DELIBERATE racists, then its ok for all racists to come out of the woodwork! Solarz you are indeed lucky to be on the other side. Chinese on the other side, please beware and take care!

Here is some news you don't see repeated and amplified by the Western MSM echo chamber:

China gives go-ahead for human trials of potential COVID-19 vaccine: state media

BEIJING (Reuters) - China has given the go-ahead for researchers to begin human safety tests of an experimental coronavirus vaccine in the race to develop a shot against the COVID-19 epidemic that has killed more than 7,000 people worldwide.

Researchers at China’s Academy of Military Medical Sciences, - affiliated to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) -received approval to launch early-stage clinical trials of the potential vaccine starting this week, the ruling Communist Party’s People’s Daily reported on Tuesday.

Scientists in the United States said on Monday that clinical trials had begun for a vaccine developed by its National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the U.S. biotech firm Moderna.

Details in the Chinese clinical trial registration database show that a “Phase 1” test that will examine whether experimental shot is safe in humans aims to recruit 108 healthy people to take part between March 16 and December 31.

The trial will be conducted by China’s Academy of Military Medical Sciences and the Hong Kong-listed biotech firm CanSino Biologics, the database showed.

Experts at the World Health Organization say they do not expect any fully tested and approved vaccine to reach the market until the middle of next year.

The 2nd team to Italia has arrived together with the supply
The second Chinese medical team has arrived in Milan to deliver equipment and help with the fight against the coronavirus. The group of 37 doctors and paramedics with 20 tons of equipment will be deployed to hospitals across Lombardy, Italy's worst-affected area. The medics said they will share experience on COVID-19 prevention and offer help to local experts. The first medical team, from southwest China's Sichuan Province, arrived in Italy on March 13.

I think you may have mis-interpret some of the post as "west bashing". Nobody here goes out of their way to "bash" the west. As you pointed out, most of us lived in the west. Some of us even have western partners, and children of both heritage. Me included.

So no way am I set out to "bash" the west. But somerimes, in order to make sense of the world we live in, we need to compare and contrast. And in doing so, we will discover we are not told the whole picture of the world.

So if I point out some of the west's flaws, it is almost always in response to their accusations, and behaviours such as blaten racism from top down!

For instant, it is unbelievable that Trump, after being told is wrong and racists, he goes on to "justify" his action with sort of "he started it" line! That, sir is the behaviour of a five-year old!

So by pointing that out, some of you think its "bashing". Well, let me tell you, I'll gladly point it out if Xi did the same!

It was not directed at anyone in particular. As I mentioned, what Trump said was vile.

But I just wanted to remind us here that the suffering of the affected people in non-Asian countries is not some kind of “karma” for the sins of their political leaders or media. Rather they are the victims.

Just makes me kind of sad because I am somewhat of an idealist.
