Remember Reddit, like all social media companies based in the US, is a vehicle for US propaganda and influence. One of the biggest contributors to Reddit was a military base in the US. It was discovered when they looked at those who posted the most on Reddit. That result was quickly deleted from reddit.

I'm not surprised r/Singapore is anti Chinese. Most pro Chinese social media are shadowbanned and taken offline unless it's in chinese.

I really hope they can have an English version of bilibili or Weibo to be honest.

Curbs are meaningless if the Omicron is already endemic in the country - in that case, it's just optics. Singapore's population is less than 6 million. China has more than 20 cities with a population of at least 5 millions. Even if all Singaporeans go nuts collectively, it's probably still quite manageable from China's point of view.

The monovalent Covid-19 mRNA vaccine candidate PTX-COVID19-B, from China's Everest Medicines biopharmaceutical company, was statistically non-inferior to Pfizer/BioNTech's Comirnaty in terms of safety and efficacy, as the phase II clinic trial demonstrates. Now they are fuming that the Chinese media noticed the racism and are probably gonna retaliate. Well of course! You idiots were slamming China regularly for its Zero Covid policy. Now when it is lifted, you are suddenly worried about Covid again? But only from China and nowhere else? Pathetic idiots!

I have to rant, because my kind of voice is very suppressed in Malaysia. This stupid country desperately needs revenue and investments coming from China. There is nothing coming fron the West. Probably one of the weaker indicators, but still interesting nonetheless, is how China's box office including pre-sales to go see Avatar 2 are recovering. Showing that in many cities infections are peaking and people after recovering feel comfortable doing outside activities again.

The EU's disease agency has said the screening of travellers from China for Covid-19 would be "unjustified".
On Thursday, Italy urged the rest of the EU to follow its lead and ensure Chinese arrivals were tested, and quarantined if necessary.
The US, Japan, Taiwan and India also recently announced mandatory testing, as China deals with a Covid surge.
But the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control said the surge was "not expected to impact" the EU.
In a statement, the ECDC said:

• High levels of Covid in China are anticipated given the country's low immunity and recent relaxation of its rules
• But higher immunity in the EU means a Covid surge in China is not expected to impact the bloc
• The Covid-19 variants circulating in China are already circulating in the EU
• Potential imported infections from China are "rather low" compared to the number of infections already occurring in the EU
• And citizens in the bloc have relatively high vaccination and immunisation

Concerns were raised after Chinese authorities decided to let people travel more freely from 8 January, after almost three years of largely-closed borders.

EU health officials held talks in Brussels on Thursday to co-ordinate any response. The ECDC added: "We remain vigilant and will be ready to use the emergency brake if necessary."
The EU can issue recommendations, but each nation is free to make their own policies, like Italy.

I remember not so long ago, 50+ years, there was discrimination among the local Chinese between the different dialects and certain trades were restricted to their groups.
This happens everywhere in the world among Asians, Europeans, et al.

In China itself, the North East Chinese are discriminated and called thieves by some in Beijing.
I believe other provinces with differences are also cursing each other just as cursing among siblings are not uncommon.
I had experienced obnoxious behavior and discrimination from some Chinese who classified the Singaporean Chinese as not being Chinese. This is quite common human behavior and do not signify that we will betray China because we have been discriminated, as the support for Wuhan crisis in 2020 have shown.

I still remember the local Chinese were fighting with the Indians in Singapore after the 1962 Sino-Indian border war.
Indians also were fighting and cursing each other when there was altercations happening within India.

Be patient and try as much as possible to rectify their misconceptions from the relentless worldwide propaganda against China and Chinese.
Your relatives are simply victims of the propaganda from the "We Lied, We Cheated, We Stole" gang.

Lol, my experiences are completely different from yours. One of my brothers-in-law who have visited China with family a number of times used to sing praises on how fast China has become so advanced compared to Malaysia. Most in my family/relatives circles do not normally express an opinion on China with a few who do expressly pro-China maybe thanks to our years of listening to our elders/uncles (no longer with us) on the history of China.

I don't remember colleagues and friends making much of an opinion of China other than recently I overheard from this lady that this manager (of ethnic Indian incidentally) making rounds in her office showing dead bodies of Covid victims in China. The other opinion that I overheard, of how China backed out of attacking Taiwan after the Pelosi visit, was incidentally also from a person of Indian ethnicity, not from a Boba Hanjian (whatever it means as it is the first time I have heard of it).
