China must be getting real annoyed with this Tedros guy, he has smeared China many times on covid previously.
No need to complain about the attitude of US media and officials and the elites towards China with regards to the issue of COVID... They called ZERO COVID policies draconian and the protests earlier this year were widely covered and even excitedly suggested in certain circles that they were a major threat to the continued governance of the CPC.
They did not expect the Chinese Government to do a 180 with regards to ZERO COVID so quickly. When this happened it was spun in various ways as the Chinese people having forced the government to capitulate and as a weakening of Xi's grip on China. Xi had no choice but to abandon the draconian policies. Then almost immediately afterwards they began commenting on the likelihood of a huge surge in the number of cases and also a huge number of deaths.
Certainly the number of cases has mounted very greatly and the same Western critics of ZERO COVID poured schadenfreude on China's entire management of COVID as a failure because of the explosion of cases after the end of ZERO COVID. Now they are yelling that China's abandonment of ZERO COVID while failing to implement measures to ensure much lesser number of infections post ZERO COVID is irresponsible and a threat to the entire world.

But understand there are a lot of foreigners here in Singapore.
There was a known case where a Singaporean Indian or Malay( forgot) was caught posing as a Chinese fomenting hatred on social media.
We also cannot determine if you are a CECA foreigner or a Singaporean.

italy has always erred on the side of caution when it comes to the covid pandemic, although that was a different government.
the new one is gradually loosening the remaining restrictions.
in theory, trying to prevent covid19 infected people from entering the country is not bad policy per se. the thing that the health authorities are focusing on when explaining the ban is that they fear new variants. a new strain could come in and be more aggressive/virulent, infections might go up, hospitalizations as well, yada yada yada
the thing that I find contradictory is that inside the country everyone is going around like before the pandemic, so a new variant could be brewing here as well.
let's put this way: I can understand the scientific concern of the health authorities, but I think that the decision was motivated by political considerations as well
I don't know who are the rabid posters on Reddit, but everybody I know or come across, supports China and their coronavirus policies, and grateful for their tremendous contributions to Covid-19 medical supplies.
If not for Chinese Sinovac, I would have to vaccinate with mRNA Pfizer, and risk getting myocarditis and unknown long term side effects.
Chinese tourists, world renowned for their generous spending are welcomed, our tourist industry needs them.
Our government had already sacrificed our old and weak to prepare for our opened borders, which is necessary for the survival of our trading hub economy.
So Omicron is no problem for those who survived the earlier Covid waves.
