Any fool who applies death rates from other East Asian countries can figure out that the actual death rate will be something like 600,000. And maybe only 300,000 of that will come this wave.

It could possibly be a mind-boggling small number if the pattern of the number of infection and fatality cases follows on from the time period before the lifting of the Covid zero. That scenario would also very much count on how the Omicron variants (and possibly other variant types) would mutate going forward with the exponential increase in infections.

Don't what that is suppose to mean the Chinese are superhumans or the chinese will just censor the news or omicron has weaken further, but death with and death from covid is reality. During the shanghai outbreak, official deaths were 600 from an 600,000 infections count. That is a 0.1%. I guess one can hope ramping up vaccine/vaccine booster , new drugs , tcm etc will help bring that further down.

Numbers are for policy, you feed numbers to a model and you make policy. If you are not going to implement policy because the people decided that they don't want policy then numbers are meaningless and will only serve to feed the propaganda machine of f*cking Western media and Western pundits.
If people have a complain there should be a website with names and addresses of the useful CIA idiots who protested to end zero COVID.

But my guesstimation given the fact that population density in China is much lower than HK even in the densest cities and that makes a difference, the vaccination rates and the much lower death rate of the newer Omicron variants (probably China own variants). It could be slow burn rather than the curve in HK. We will be talking about 500K tops if 40% of the population get infected or lower if people mask themselves, avoid crowded events, remote work, nasal spray vaccines come into play and so on. Like 150K-200K.

The Western media wants to push narratives. They want China to buy this Vaccines because nobody is using those vaccines anymore, nobody is boosting themselves anymore, only 33% in the US are boosted and there is serious reporting that this companies were not transparent enough about the side effects of this vaccines. Now this companies have boxes after boxes piled of this vaccines, they are expecting to China to approve them, to buy vaccines for older variants.

This first peer reviewed publication linking COVID vaccination to myocarditis has been published. While there has been a causal link between vaccination and myocarditis for some time, this is the first time it has been demonstrably proven. It was published in a reputable journal, by a German university.

It'll be interesting what happens from now. There is a lot of non-scientific political pressure for vaccination as it allows the reopening of economies and a lot of the "anti-vaxxers" are political opponents. In the UK there already is very strong pressure to end the vaccination campaign among health professionals. Any therapy being paid for by the NHS undergoes rigorous cost-benefit analysis and I don't see how vaccines will continue to be able to justify their massive expense.

MSM and SCMP have multiple times spread rumor about Pfizer approvals but each time it is a fake news. There is no point of approving any mRNA vaccines now given how poorly they performed against Omicron variants. It isn't about vaccines but convincing elderly to be vaccinated and boosted which is doing well lately due to fear. It is just Omicron is spreading fast but vaccination needs time to be effective.

But western vaccines companies are not even offering their newest version for omicron, oh no no , "those are for the West only", they want to China to buy the backlog of vaccines that the newest variants rendered useless because they only considered the spike protein.

It would best to invest and test for the newest gen of nasal sprayed vaccines, that could probably generate a faster immune response in the infection point and/or combine it with other omicron specific vaccines.
