Vaccines do not seem like a silver bullet to prevent illness these days either, even the much-vaunted MRNA types, over the last few days me and quite a few colleagues caught the disease after attending a work function together, that is despite all of us being at least triple dosed MRNA, on the bright side the symptoms are flu-like instead of requiring respirators.

At this stage as long as it dramatically lowers death rate it doesn't matter what vaccine the people take, even just one jab can save many lives, it may not stop you from getting sick, but you'll at least live to complain about it.
Some mRNA vaccines are just falsely hyped by countries that don't have better alternatives yet suffered immense deaths even among the vaccinated.

Rural ICUs prepare for surge in cases
The National Health Commission said in a notice released on Sunday that major county-level hospitals should upgrade their intensive care units and increase the number of ICU beds to no less than 4 percent of total beds by the end of this month.
...
Each ICU bed should be equipped with one doctor and 2.5 to 3 nurses on an 8-hour to 12-hour shift. Another 20 to 30 percent of full capacity medical staff should also be on standby as backup, the notice said.

It stopped being that once Omicron broke out. Israeli studies frequently showed that when it came to preventing infecion, the Pfizer vaccine only had a below 50% efficacy rate. The part to look out for was the prevention of hospitilization and death, where its efficacy was 90%. Pretty much, any WHO approved vaccine out there would suffice because its no longer about keeping infections down, but preventing hospitalization and death.

As I said before, it is either strict covid zero or live with covid. There is no middle road. A forth dose for elderly should be helpful and a rapid rollout of the third dose is also a good sign. It is now up to the Chinese health care system to cope with covid.

*Bloomberg as much of Western media is absolute garbage. They are just looking for any single Covid crap in China to go in a propaganda binge for weeks.
Now with that out of the way.

There is masking.
limiting crowded events, like concerts.
Some Companies can remote work.
Vaccines.
People could restrict themselves from exposing themselves.

As I said, it is damn if you do and damn if you don't. If China continued zero covid, the West would continue trying to exaggerate the protests and the economic fallout. If China ended zero covid, the West would talk about hospitalizations and deaths. MSM for the last few years is just good at trash talking China no matter what.

However, it is also undeniable that the covid cases are spreading in many cities quickly. Some are hard hit and others are still doing fine. Government is gearing towards preparing ICU beds and makeshift hospitals to cope with the infuse of patients. Prevention is no longer their priorities, vaccination, treatment and strengthened the health care system are.

(Bloomberg) -- Long Covid has played a part in killing 3,544 people in the US, according to a government study that suggests how severe SARS-CoV-2’s impact may remain after the pandemic era passes.

Deaths from the syndrome peaked in February and were more common among men than women, according to an analysis of death certificates as of Oct. 7 conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Vital Statistics. Almost eight out of 10 long Covid deaths were in White people, with Black people the second most-affected group at about 10% of the total.

Covid infection itself has killed more than 1 million people in the US, according to the CDC. Comprising immune, cardiac and brain disturbances among others, long Covid has no approved treatments and has affected as many as 23 million people in the US at varying levels of severity. While Harvard University researchers have estimated the disease may cost the US $3.7 trillion, the CDC estimate is the first of deaths to date.

Numerous academic institutions and research organizations are studying the disease to find the best ways for prevention and treatment, as it still remains a mystery. While there’s some evidence that long Covid is less common in people who have been vaccinated, the condition can appear in people who have suffered mild or severe coronavirus infections. Symptoms of long Covid can include the moderate, such tiredness and brain fog, to the more serious, including respiratory and heart issues.

The vast majority of long Covid deaths were among older people, with about three-quarters in people 65 and older. There is no diagnostic test for long Covid, as its cause isn’t well understood. The researchers looked at US death certificates for a variety of terms used to describe long Covid, such as “chronic Covid,” “long haul Covid,” “long hauler Covid,” “post-acute sequelae of Covid-19.”

The msm is trying to exaggerate the protest into the crumbling of the government. But then with most covid policies cancelled very quickly, those protests just disappeared altogether. Like I said before, testing a hundred times is not going to increase your anti-bodies. At least they are vaccinating again now, and more upcoming local mRNA vaccines will be used.

Why you are repeating the same thing, zero covid has been good for China up until Shanghai outbreak. After Shanghai, vaccination among elderly have been greatly improved. If without the protests, China could slowly reopen with new vaccines that boosted the vaccination rate. As for mRNA, why are you keep insisting on mRNA, it provides no additional benefits after 3 doses.

It's a very naive way of thinking, this coming from the impression of Western MSM which I suppose you're coming from, that mass testing prevents the population from getting natural immunity and is therefore useless.

What, if not mass testing, do you think is the reason why new variants of the covid virus so far haven't gotten hold in China?

On the contrary, perhaps China should be now more wary of new variants of the virus getting hold in the country either from mutation or importation now that mass testing has abruptly been stopped.
