The latest from China - a serious push to vaccinate the elderly:
  • By the end of January 2023, 95% of 60-79 yo must have at least one shot, and all those eligible should have 2 shots and a booster shot (1)
  • By the end of January 2023, 90% of 80 yo and over must have at least one shot, and all those eligible should have 2 shots and a booster shot (1)
  • According to WHO, the second shot should take place 3-4 weeks after the first shot. So optimally, 95% of all eligible 60-79 yo will be fully vaccinated by the end of February, 2023 (2) (3)
  • By the same token, all eligible 80 yo and over will be fully vaccinated by the end of February, 2023 (2) (3)
  • The booster should be separated from the 2nd shot by 3 months. So optimally, 95% of all eligible 60-79 yo will be fully boosted by the end of May, 2023 (4)
  • Similarly, optimally, 90% of all eligible 80 yo and over will be fully boosted by the end of May, 2023 (4)

Hopefully, with an indoor mask mandate, China can mostly open up in Q3 2003.

反贼 have won the covid war in China. You know this is true because they have started criticizing the upcoming covid deaths.
Who gives a s..t..these losers aren't all Chinese or living in China but are mostly based in Taiwan and elsewhere.

They didn't win jack shit. It was already been heavily suspected prior to the western hijacked protests that the central government was going to loosen up the rules/revised the dynamic covid-19 policy. The implications of what you wrote viciously suggest that CPC change in policy is sudden which means without careful thought and planning, haphazard which could result and lead to an even more negative outcome which is flat out ridiculous.

Quit reading too much into those losers commentaries since they never represent the true sentiment of the Chinese people at all. Rebel? Please....more like losers.

And just to modify the comment I made above, I want to post this nugget of wisdom made by Pres. Xi Jinping back in 2005 on these type of situation, the quoted translation is provided by our good friend @CarlZha

Relax.

The Chinese government has been planning a relaxation of zero COVID policy for a while now, but kept getting derailed by outbreaks.

The hard truth is that with policy relaxation will come deaths. Those who think otherwise are either fooling themselves or believing bad things won't happen to them.

The worst thing the government can do is to divide the people into pro and con camps like the West does. What the Chinese government is doing now is expectation management. The policy will be slowly relaxed, but I suspect a lot of people will regret getting what they asked for.

Deaths are just not avoidable anymore. If the world implemented similar lockdown as Chind did to eliminate covid, then we couldn't be in this situation. However, it is too late now so China needs to face the reality that covid is here to stay.

It would be a win if China could keep deaths low. Less than 500,000 deaths for the first year and 200,000 deaths or less after that is the realistic goal.
