Let's not be that absolute. 否则有点拉仇恨. China's covid policy and strategy was born out of Chinese culture, regardless of "party" or "political correctness". Chinese believe in 人命关天. Let other people decide how they want to survive.

I don't think it is wise to make the elderly incur costs of lock down. Doing so will surely cause social unrest. They will claim government officials ordered lockdown specifically to steal money from the elderly and put it in their own pockets because of corruption. Such a move may cause an armed uprising in China as the military defects to NATO side.

One thing that gotta stop is the breaking and entering of people's residence and spraying decontamination fluid everywhere. It doesn't really kill the virus and completely wrecks people's private property and interior decor and probably has deleterious effects on health later down the road. If you have time to wreck someone's house for an hour you can better spend it by vaccinating elders.
