If this becomes successful, we could actually make Covid endemic with low infection rate, and even have a shot at eradicating it completely. This would deny Covid its major mode of transmission, and make its R0 value below 1. I've been looking around for news about these type of vaccines, and it seems like we're getting closer to releasing it. This has been the most positive news, I've read in a while.

Yes economic impact is real if it gets out of hand but I would be concerned more about this. We are talking about a 10% increase in mortality among young. That is what living with Covid means at this stage. I think the Shanghai lockdown's effect is a joke compared to this.

MSM only reported about China but at the moment Taiwan is in a serious covid outbreak. Although nobody is held accountable or any MSM is interested reporting the outbreak. Hopefull, Taiwan would not be as bad as Hong Kong but don't look good.

It's even more than 10% if you look at the excess deaths over the previous years' total, the highest of which is 172,036. That is against 244,646 for 2021. 42% increase in mortality rate (for all causes).

What i find somehow scary about the Taiwan outbreak is the recovery rate, its seems low compare to the infected and has been that way for quite some time. I really hope is because they are not counting the recovered well and not because people are getting sicker.
