Multiple symptoms with a CT scan to confirm a symptomatic case. Don't know what percentage of the deaths are not vaccinated but press releases mentioned many of the deaths are not vaccinated.

From the result of the first mass testing in a high risk district, Beijing didn't find too many new cases outside of people that are already under quarantine so maybe not as bad as initially thought to be.
That is reassuring.
Finally, the number of asymptomatic cases are below 10k in Shanghai. We are seeing a spot of light at the end of the tunnel.

with 2 asymptomatic, I wonder if that's a good sign that they managed to contain the transmission chain.
If you look at Shanghai cases were <100 for one to two weeks before surging out of control. Beijing had 34 cases a day earlier so it's still too early to tell. However what Beijing did do is mass testing over its entire population so its numbers are definitely more accurate.
The difference between Beijing and Shanghai is that Beijing has conducted mass testing for over 90% of its population and found only a few dozens cases. It's unlikely that Beijing covid cases would get out of control since the
transmission chain isn't too complicated and contact and trace still possible.
