Ah its that one huh.

It was once (months, years?), where the foreign minister Li Zhaojian (I think his name is), said to foreign journalist that they should be happy to live in China as compared to other countries.
I saw it from this

The folks here seems to love China so much.

Ah that sub, nowadays it's basically a negative China sub, different from r/China (mostly racist sexpats).

As for the people on there, probably quite a big mix of people (probably also includes 1450) and well, the people there basically takes a magnifying glass at anything negative in China, while ignoring all the positives (and they also wear sunglasses and only look at the good parts of the west, while ignoring any negatives all around them).

My advice, just ignore that sub (or just skim and don't waste time engaging in comments)

This is possibly the greatest gift to China since everyone in the West has this antiquated warp and incorrect view of China, but too chickenshit to go to war. China zooms past them with rapid growth and by the time they realize to do effective containment, it's too late. They are underestimating China, which is actually much preferred to them realizing how powerful we are.

Covid is not a flu, and shouldn't be treated as such. Also this is just deaths, we don't know the how much people are affected by long covid and elevated level of heart disease risk, the effects will show up overtime in the amount of money big pharma earns, total medical debt accumulated, and excess mortality.

Omicron is as different from the original Covid as the common cold is. Omicron should be treated as an entirely new virus rather than an extension of Covid. Scientific data also show the risk of long Covid from Omicron is magnitudes less than from the original Covid strains.

Regardless of whether or not Shanghai stays locked down, the government need to at least do a better job of providing basic food/necessities and building better quarantine hospitals. Some of these quarantine hospitals are basically unsealed large tents without any running water or plumbing. In Wuhan, a city 1/50th as important as Shanghai, not one person did not have enough to eat. The tens of thousands of people that had to stay in quarantine hospitals enjoyed state of the art facilities with word class care. Heads need to roll for how badly the lockdown in Shanghai is being implemented. I'd expect better even for a second tier city.

It should still be treated as Covid, because like Covid it can still mutate into a more virulent and/or severe variant. While long Covid is magnitude lesser, there's still a risk of it, and with reinfection and spread being high, its only matter of time a huge portion of the population gets long Covid. In addition we're still seeing it mutate into more variants with some expressing increased transmissibility and severity, I don't think the theory of viruses evolving into a less deadly overtime is legitimate. An example that disprove it is this

Can you cite that? I didn't see any articles that said that.
