Certainly, that's the case. I would foresee a few places to impose some sort of lock down soon. Maybe only Shenzhen and Shanghai would try to continue to not impose lock down and using mass testings to stamp out cases.

What should I say? The coronavirus pandemic was politicalized and now it is being militarized. I'm afraid we won't see the light at the end of the tunnel in a foreseeable timeframe.

The last thing China should do is to blindly follow what has been suggested to her by some of those of the "Free West" who are not exactly the best of friends on other matters at other times.
Immunogenicity data from Sinopharm's 2nd gen broad spectrum vaccine when used as booster to Sinopharm's inactivated vaccine. Looks like its broad spectrum doesn't cover Omicron as well as earlier variants. The data is roughly comparable to BNT when used as a booster to inactivated vaccines. Bad news.
Anyway, the situation is quite serious at the moment. China really is less prepared than it could be for this wave. The conservativeness of China's vaccination policy has been astonishing. From the lengthy (6 month) time gap requirement between 2nd shot and booster shot to the reluctance to approve homologous boosting. Someone later need to explain their decision making process.

Looks good to me. With the Omicron variant, Sinopharm 2nd Gen vaccine boosted antibody titers is as high as that boosted by BNT for the other virus variants and is 4 times higher than the case with the Omicron variant itself boosted with BNT.
That's a shame if it's true especially if the decision is made without the availability of data, early on, on how each of the booster vaccine types would perform in real-life.
