Scmp seem to be pushing the “sinovac plus boosters is ineffective against omicron” narrative hard for some reason. Harder than many western media. China needs to talk to their head editor
Let's see if SCMP would report on these findings in Chile which is not exactly going along with "the narrative" SCMP is pushing.

The findings are pointing to Sinovac relying more on the cellular immunity route to fight the virus.

Sinovac booster can activate cellular immunity against Omicron

KUALA LUMPUR: Preliminary results of a study conducted by the Pontifical Catholic University in Chile (UC) showed that the Covid-19 Sinovac vaccine booster dose could activate cellular immunity against the Omicron variant, on subjects who were given two doses of the same vaccine previously.
The objective of the study led by Millennium Institute on Immunology and Immunotherapy director Professor Dr Alexis M. Kalergis, was to assess whether the immunity activated by the Sinovac vaccine booster dose is able to recognise the Omicron variant.
Dr Alexis, in a statement released by Pharmaniaga today, said those who had received the Covid-19 Sinovac vaccine booster dose had T cell levels that are activated against the Omicron variant in a similar way to the original strain.
"This shows that the vaccine contains antigens that are found in the Omicron variant. The results show that when T lymphocytes come in contact with the Omicron variant, they are able to produce gamma interferon which is capable of killing the dangerous virus," he said.

Meanwhile, UC's Academic and Scientific director for the CoronaVac Scientific-Clinical Study in Chile, Dr Susan Bueno said, it was most likely that partial recognition of these variants had contributed to the effectiveness of the vaccine among the population, despite the variants being widespread in Chile.

"Population data shows that the Covid-19 Sinovac vaccine has worked well so far to control the variants that have emerged," she said.

The statement also informed that researchers in Chile in collaboration with the Catholic University, the University of Chile, the La Jolla Institute for Immunology in California (USA) and Sinovac in China were also in the midst of conducting a study on the antibody response against the new variant.
The new deadly Omicron (B.1.1.529) Covid-19 variant of concern (VoC), identified in South Africa and also detected in Europe and Asia has raised concern worldwide given the number of mutations and reports that it might spread even faster and evade antibodies from prior infection of the virus or vaccination.
The Sinovac Covid-19 booster shot has recently been approved by the Drug Control Authority and currently available in selected private healthcare facilities.– BERNAMA

@SteelBird bro Happy New Year , first working day of 2022 as of Yesterday we recorded 4,600 case per day nearly 20 times increase from my previous post of 256 last 10 days ago , we may reach 10,000 next week. And most came from Metro Manila as those from Visayas were unreported due to damages from Super Typhoon Odette. BUT the hospitalization is manageable as most Filipinos prefer self medication (using Leng Hua) due to high cost.

Happy New Year!

The first news we encounter on the first day of 2022 is Covid-19. It's a bad news that The Philippines' daily case goes up to 4 digits once again but we still need to observe how Omicron will smash the world. As for Cambodia, we have been reporting zero community case for quite a few days. All our new cases are imports and all are Omicron. We predict that this variant will sooner or later spread into our community.

Happy New Year @ansy1968 and your family.
@Bellum_Romanum and a Happy prosperous and healthy New Year to you and your family too bro, We may go to another lockdown IF cases do reach 10,000. BUT I think this mutation maybe infectious BUT is less virulent, as the Chinese TCM is doing the job like a common flu. Since Filipinos like to eat especially in Buffet, it is the main culprit, an issue that goes viral when a company Xmas party was held in a famous Buffet restaurant and all of those attended had the virus. Bro I rarely go out and eat (except on DEC 31 with the family) and a positive side of the Pandemic, my children especially my son and my daughter boyfriend had become expert in cooking, we stayed at home during Xmas, played mahjong and had experience a wonderful time as a Family, cause usually Pre Covid December is our peak season and usually I will escort a group separate from my wife where she escort another group with my children.

China should be able to open, if they can get their local mRNA vaccines. How good are local Chinese vaccines in preparing the immune system for producing T-cells?
China will eventually be opened, in deliberated stages. At the present stage of "zero tolerance", China is biding time for full vaccination of it population, racking up booster shots, building isolation centres, creating different vaccines types and medications.
The priority for China now is not opening up internationally but to be prepaid for the coming Chinese New year and the Winter Olympics which coincidentally happened at the same time. This is only a month away where hundreds of millions of its population are moving across the country by all modes of transport. So far they have managed to control the Covid and the economy relatively well.
Let us wish them continuing success, a healthy and prosperous Chinese New year regardless of the efficiency of their vaccines.

Doesn't seem Pfizer booster are that effective if there is sufficent exposure. I know a few people that caught omicrom from xmas gatherings. I am guessing it is effective if constantly masked up among others ... Basically no vaccine is good enough for omicrom so all of the 2 SHOT OF CHINA VACCINE DON"T WORK WITH OMICROM is straight up propaganda
