What does the "protection against infection" mean by the bloomberg article? Is that even a scientific term in the study that bloomberg reported?
My understanding of vaccine is that they trigger the body to produce anti-bodies which hinder the virus' capability to replicate itself. So vaccine does not stop replication but only greatly reduce it. This means that there is always an infection, but only minimized by vaccine.
The wording "against infection" gives me the impression of TOTALLY prevent replication. That means that in the claimed percentage of chances people would have no virus replication in their body after the virus landed on their lung cell.
It sounds like among these protection chances every virus particle has an anti-body (or some chemical compound that body produced) waiting to kill the virus with 100% successful rate before the virus makes the first replication. I find this term hard to believe. It is like to say that infinite has a definite value.
